Lots of information available here: www.surplusrifle.com...
They also cover most other WW1 and WW2 surplus rifles along with some surplus handguns as well.
After you peruse the AK section, you can click on other types of surplus firearms listed in the left hand column.

The Romanians are roughly finished and bear little resemblance in terms of quality when you compare them to Polish AKs or Arsenals. You get what you pay for. I handled a new Polish AK underfolder 2 weeks ago and the quality was amazing, the furniture (wooden parts) alone would not have looked out of place in a dining room table.
Firstly they are not AK-47s any more than a Bushmaster is an M-16, the difference is subtle but worthy of note. From memory (i.e. I could be wrong) the WASR-1 is a 7.62x39, the WASR-2 is in 5.45mm and the WASR-3 is in 5.56mm.
To check the gas tube and front sight alignment, remove the magazine and lock the bolt back to check that the chamber is clear both visibly AND physically (stick your pinky in the chamber).
You then have to violate Firearms Safety Rule #2, namely, by looking lengthways at the gun from the dangerous end. The front sight and gas tube (sits on top of the barrel) should all be nicely aligned with the components to the rear of them (hand guard, receiver cover, and rear sight). I have seen a LOT of WASR-1s that had canted gas tubes, and this is far from acceptable.
However - they work just fine most of the time, and are ok out to maybe 150m or so. For serious research before buying, do some surfing over at one of the AK forums, I think the main site is www.AK-47.net, but just Google it.
Personally I'm an SKS guy. They are much cheaper (I have seen them for $75 a piece on line) and don't scream "Workplace Shooting Spree" when you see one.
You just have to decide what you want one for, plinking, target shooting, home defence, truck gun - or all of the above.
Originally posted by Full_Auto77It's not WASR. Those are in the magazine Im ording from, but on another page it has simply, Romainain AK-47. It's the one Im getting. But you are saying an AK isint an AK unless it's from Russia? It's has the same parts pretty much as the other AK-47s right?
Also what do you mean by screaming "Workplace Shooting Spree"?

For example, it was a shooter armed with an AK (a Chinese model I believe) that brought about the end of semi automatic rifle ownership in the UK (other than .22LR). It's the firearms equivalent of owning a Pit Bull.
What happened?
