Apparently the administration has not liked what "The Power Hour", and other patriot/conspiracy broadcasters are reporting and have shut them down on several of the largest shortwave radio stations in the US.

They were removed last night without notice, from the airwaves from WWCR and WRHI along with other programs.

The "law" used has been flimsily applied but actually should wake some folks up that we are now living in a fascist controlled country.

What do you all think we should do?

I know what I'm going to do. I going to get a satellite link from Ricks and a low power FM transmitter and rebroadcast these programs. What else can we do?

No I don't always agree with everything RBN or GCN says but we have to get proactive, because today it is them the next time it will be me and you right here on the forum.

For crying out load what kind of country do we live in that gets you arrested for wearing the wrong t-shirt.

Also, when will we recognize this is a new world with new ways of conducting war. And that right here in the US there is a war against its citizens being conducted.

Welcome, to occupied territory.

SHUTDOWN!!!!

I couldn't agree more. People have to wake up! Canada is even worse! The only problem is so many Canuk citizens are dependant on handouts & grants that if you say anything the public shut you down as well. They don't even want to entertain the notion of wrong doing by a gov't.
Propaganda is a powerful weapon. I feel like I'm the only one who has woke up and when I try to discuss things with friends & family they get really defensive & violently oppose what I'm trying to say. They think I'm crazy.

Do you know for a fact that the government removed the Power Hour?
Why would the government do this? I am not familiar with the broadcast.

Do you have any info other than your experiences last night, any links?

Please provide valid sources to prove your claims. I am interested in reading these sources. Thank you.

Ummm is this their website? www.thepowerhour.com...

It doesn't report anything about the government taking them off the air?!

I don't agree with this removal of the free radio content from short wave.

I would like to point something out though. There are many people, me included, that believe that certain "undesirable" type people might be using short wave to send messages. Since the Bush Admin. has stepped up survielance of phone, internet, and basically all forms of communication, it's believed some groups (terrorists) have gone to short wave to transmit info to sleeper cells. While the broadcast signal may be overheard by intel services, the content can be encrypted and the person recieving it can remain safely in hiding.

Here is some good reads and links to info:

Short Wave Espionage
"Secret Signals" is about the enduring mystery of the shortwave bands-namely the "Numbers Stations" These are supposedly one way transmissions to espionage agents working in foreign countries. Where do these transmissions come from? Well, one source is an Embassy building in a particular country. Look at the grotesque log periodic antenna on top of the Yugoslav embassy in Washington. Other sites may include international broadcasters. The B.B.C. has always denied any involvement and in the book you will read of a denial of the use of the frequency 6840 kHz "We have not used it for many years". However, later on came the following reply from B.F.B.S. "Thank you for your letter enquiring about our 6840 kHz frequency and any associated interference. You may, or may not, know that this frequency was "lent" to us in order that British Forces serving in the Gulf area could keep in touch with not only the British news but also Service news via BFBS.

The transmitter that radiates this frequency is situated on Cyprus and the transmissions are directed towards the Gulf region (sounds familiar!). We have never had any complaints of the type you describe and therefore no call for further action. It would seem that the heavy interference you describe may well not affect our listeners in the Gulf area since our signal there will be infinitely stronger." See QSL1 and QSL2. Could this be a QSL in lieu of a Lincolnshire Poacher confirmation? There have been stations that have had genuine callsigns such as DFC37 and DFD21 and even stations that have issued QSL cards, such as Czech station OLX and semi-spy station KKN44.

The Number Stations use one time pads which are unbreakable if used correctly. Agents have been caught with them in hollowed out bars of soap . Or even talcum powder containers.

The above link has links to lots of audio clips if you're interested in hearing examples.

Here is a great site about not just espionage but propoganda on shortwave radio

Clandestine Radio

ClandestineRadio.com is the only online portal dedicated to the study of clandestine and subversive radio - a field where politics, diplomacy, espionage and broadcast media collide. Clandestine broadcasting is a highly effective weapon in the arsenal of psychological warfare, which, when analyzed, can assist observers to cut through the fog of war and ascertain the strength and capabilities of opposition groups as well as actual on-the-ground military strategies. For the casual Web surfer this site may seem exotic and, at times, conspiratorial. Regular and "professional" users, however, will find an intelligence bonanza.

While I am concerned deeply about the intrusion on the freedom's of ordinary Americans, I believe certain signals need to be sought out and shut down. Al-Qeada is known to use a shortwave station for example.

HMMMMM...

Terrorists aside - LOTS of people already use shortwave to link to the Net. And for decades, scientists and others stuck in the Arctic (for example) used box kites to run communication cables - likely still a back up for wireless.

Public access to the InterNet was shut down before the famines hit. We hack into it, but high security net uses towers for ham radio transmissions, linked to computers. We tap into old towers or jury-build new ones with cables and strips of metal, hanging them off empty skyscrapers or sometimes, using box kites to get them in the air. A down tower could be normal, or it could be a major security disaster.

Transformation, Aborted

Hate to think shortwave is on the block too.

Any chance those stations simply decided to stop airing the program? You'd sure think either the station's website or the Power Hour website would be awash with that info if the gubmint shut it down.

One would think that if The Power Hour got kicked off the air, that this fact would be all over their site - which it is not.

Just an FYI, when the government shuts you down, you cant say squat without charges being filed...

it is called a GAG order for a reason folks.

I would think that our government wouldn't be stupid enough to fire the first shot of the revolution with such an action though...

You know guys since hearing about this on the radio, I've been looking everywhere for written info on the net. But I can't find anything. I've called them and have only been able to leave messages.

I posted this the very next day, but I don't know what the air date was. I was assuming it was live. It sounded live, ie talks of Israel/Lebanon. So I will work a little harder to find out more. As a ham this kind of info usually doesn't throw me off guard.

Will let you know more asap.

I've been listening to shortwave tonight (Thursday, January 22, 2009) and hear only static on the stations I normally listen to. They are 3.220 MHz(WWCR) and 5.070 MHz (GCN). Nothing...this is why I typed in "shortwave shut down" in google and got this website. I usually hear Alex Jones on both stations at different times, and some Christian broadcasts on 3220.

I can confirm. WTF is going on guize? Those station operators wouldn't go down without explaining why.
