Well, i'd like to hear what each of you would do if suddenly we found out for sure that there was no god or he would die and leave us.

An interesting situation i await your answers

I would do nothing.

Life would go on as normal for me.

a lot more people would have to believe in themselves.

There would be no us. Your cells can't exist without your body.

I don't believe in a god anyways, I believe in nature and myself. Life would continue as it always has for me, though the church would be #ed.

i think the church would make something up to extend there sorrowful existence. much like what they've been doing for the past oh i dunno..... 1800 years (give or take a few centuries)!
hehe, but that's just me. no offence to you church goers. but feel free to correct my estimation on when the church was established. sometime after jesus i presume....

I think it can be argued that this has already happened... Don't believe me? Simply watch the 6 o'clock news on any given day.....

I'd laugh, a lot, until I fell over.

If there were no God, and there was someway this was actually proved, Chaos would envelop the world, even more so than it has now.

Well, if God's the one keeping Chaos currently at bay, I'd have to give him a

Like I said... If God doesn't exist, we don't exist. Different scientific experiments and reports; different religions and scriptures; and different human experiences have shown that we are all part of one huge spirit, field, formless substance, energy, whatever you want to call it. And that it is within everything and in a deeper sense, is everything. And that our individualty and us being appart from it is an illusion.

God is us and God is within and all around us. Therefore, we will never find out that God doesn't exist, because then we would not exist.

I think that this is the billionth time that I've mentioned this on ATS.

i like the way you think bandit, here's how i look at it:

god = life = love

interchange any of those and you will have the same thing. the separation from these, like bandit said, is what is killing us. i can explain this further if anyone wants me to.

The universe/world we live in is too perfect to deny God...so...as the site's saying goes...deny ignorance. Think of it this way...to deny God...is to deny your own existence...be prepared for the coming of Christ.

Oh man, thanks, I needed a laugh right about now...

Tell that to the Egyptian women who lost their first born children to his wind of death, or for all the innocents who died in Noah's flood...or the babies in Soddam and Gamora who perished along with their parents...or maybe the woman he turned into a pillar of salt.... Where is the love?
Man, that cracks me up....

well that all depends if you're belief in god is based on the bible. a lot of people believe in god, but not the bible. i dont believe in god, and infact, i think he's an asshole in the bible. i do believe in life, however, and that we are all connected. i was merely using that as an example. all those things you listed to me are merely stories, stories of fear to put certain people into place. sad control tactics... it's all about control when it comes to religion.

Ahh...so you're talking about a generic "God" idea.... I can live with that entity being about love, etc...

Gazrok...after The Great Flood...God promised not to wipe the Earth clean again. He only did it because the people rebelled against Him...while corruption and violence ran amuck...the people denied His very existence. He split the "ark" people into nations...blessing Abrams people.
"I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you."

It's not love...it's God's perfect justice...as you might say. The Egyptian women's first born were killed by God to prove God's divine power so Moses people would be set free. Sodom and Gamora were destroyed because no one in those cities acknowledged God's existence...so...when Lot and his wife left before the destruction...Lot's wife doubted God...and therefore she was turned into a pillar of salt. He promised not to flood and destroy all things on the Earth after the Great Flood..but...God still brought justice upon the people if they denied Him and were corrupt.
