What about a toolbar area that you can go to specifically to see if your "friends" or "foes" are online? What I'm referring to here is that I mean in area where the
"U2U"
pops up, there is some kind of sign that says
(6) FRIENDS & (2) FOES
are online.

Just a passing thought.

What about putting an area within our profile where it links to all the threads we've been "Applauded" by a Moderator? I'm not being narcisistic here but more so that I can remember My own threads that I got applauses on since I've been here on ATS for three years now. I've gotten 11 applauses and only remember the very last one specifically.

By the way, I like this thread better than the "Complaints/Suggestions" area since I at least can see My own responses being ignored by looking at the thread instead of watching for no U2U responses from the Administration.

Not sure if it's already been said, maybe later i'll have the time to go through 33 pages.......anyway i would love there to be an "applause " function available to members, either to applaud each other or to applaud staff on the forum.

There have been numerous occasions where i feel the mods have deserved a huge pat on the back, but have been aware that we cannot do this like they can to us. Hell, i even feel as though i'm being inpolite not saying thanks for the applause....despite the fact that i know the U2u's say "do not reply to this"!

I know as a member, just a little thanks and a bit of recognition can make a huge difference to a persons day. Members put a lot into this place, and can get thanked accordingly, i think the same should apply to staff who undoubtedly work hard to keep this place what it is.

In the real world, if someone does something good, nice, or is of help to me in any way, i at least like to say thanks or shake the persons hand.

ATS is a business as well as a passion, and customers/members always put more into a place where they are praised and motivated.

The same should apply here i feel.

Thanks,

CX.

What I would like to see is a slight change in the way that podcasts are shown. BTS podcasts like the humor podcasts should display in the recent posts section of BTS. This way perhaps the people that frequent BTS more would be more willing to reply to the podcast.

Just looking for something to better reach the target audiance. A BTS podcast might not get received as well on ATS as it would be received and commented on if it were listed in the BTS recent posts page.

I would also like to see the podcast automaticly added to the myATS list when I upload one. Now one has to manually go and find the podcast on the ATS board then click on it in order to manualy enter it into the myATS listing.

Also along these lines how about having say a BTS podcast points be added to the BTS points instead of ATS points. I just think that if your going to make a humor podcast for BTS it should reflect that way.

The member podcasts are in my opinion fun and great to listen to. I enjoy listining to other peoples podcasts they are a fun way to learn more about other members.

Another fun idea would be to have member podcast contests. Once I did a podcast debate with semperfortis, it was an awesome debate and I believe that it was received well by the membership.

As we see this board go into the futre and grow into a more main stream outlet for people to join and discuss I think that at this point it would be wise to update the members podcast areas. To reflect the dynamic that this site is trying to achieve.

Ok, here is my idea. I think it would be good if we had a "new member support team" these people are existing ATS members (not staff) that carry this logo on their avatar and are there to help new members settle in.

Why is this needed... when you first join up, everything can be a bit daunting, this place is huge, you dont know anyone and you dont know who to ask for advice. I know you can U2U the staff but when I joined I felt like I didnt want to bother them (though 3 months later its not an issue now) plus you would only know this (sending a U2U) if you said hello in the introduction forum. Many new people just dive in to the main forums without knowing the rules and some of them do make mistakes or even get banned.

I think this idea could help new members settle in quicker as they will know who to direct their questions to.

The ATS members that are part of the support team are not staff. They dont have any powers, they are simply there to help and give advice on matters connected to ATS. For example: TACs, Avatars, Points, and all the other usual questions that come up.

Thanks,

JQ

ATS did experiment with a Council format in the past where there was a helpful medium between the level of member and staff member. It was utilized for several months, but it eventually faded out. At this point I do not believe there are any intentions of bringing it back.

On paper, it does sound like a good plan. But it can create problems rather than solving them. I remember there used to be a lot of confusion surrounding each status and it resulted in some issues turning into something they shouldn't be.

No doubt its been said already but alongside the star ratings there could be another symbol thing right under the stars for disagreeing with someone. If the star was an
then the opposite would be a
or maybe they could be black stars or even green or red if someones got an issue with black being negative which it isnt. lol

Often we see debates going on and sometimes dont wana get dragged into it posting, but there is no option for a quick de starring, we can only agree on the star or post our objection... which isnt fair.. some threads or posts get way too many stars from those in agreement and those in the same 'belief system'. Religion or otherwise.

Im sure Id get plenty of dark stars but thats life.

Also I think the ignore feature should be scrapped cause people should be grown up enough to not need to ignore someone like some child. If someone is posting so much offensive stuff surely the mods will sort them out... and if someones just on ignore cause the person doesnt agree with them or cant take the pressure.... well what does that go to show? weak mindedness?

I'l never put anybody on ignore, if anything they can go on my RESPECTED foes. Which I'l still add nobody unless its all in good will and no disrespects.

Not sure if anyone is still paying attention after all these pages but here is an idea I have been thinking about for awhile...

Each post has two buttons near the top for "single" and "this post". It would be very helpful to have a third button for "all posts this thread" which would aggregate all of the thread posts for that particular person.

Using the feature on your own post would allow you to easily group all of the information you have added to the thread in one place. When a thread has been cold for awhile it is often dificult to remember exactly what you have and have not covered.

Using the feature on another persons post would be similarly useful to easily review all of that person's contributions to the thread.

I imagine that the Mods would also find this to be useful.

I'm interested in actually studying the paranormal, but in the "paranormal studies" board, all we have is people passing around anecdotal evidence like a bunch of teenagers playing at being witches or mystics or something. Could we make a new board for their whimsy, or a new one for actual study? It's impossible to filter out the "Do ghosts like hotdogs?" chaff to get to the "New study on the presence of psychic abilities in a 50-person test group" wheat.

As originally came up with by Daddybare

www.abovetopsecret.com...

A "Classifieds/Trader section"

To quote him

Just a thought... but reading the posts from others I'm sure there a lot of people out there with equipment and or books, rather unique items they would love to sell or swap...

I think it would be a great idea
Anyone else?

It would be great if we could always see the last couple of posts to a thread in the post reply page, not just in the beginning of a thread... Shouldn't be too hard to do...

what would be nice is a place to post without posting. Perhaps a practice post area, where we can edit our posts without actually posting them somewhere.

In certan threads one would like to preview a post before posting it, however due to some glitch in the system somehow editing in this manner is rather cumbersome and does not work very well. What I would like to see is a post entry box that would allow members to write and edit a post before submiting it to a thread so that they can ensure that everything looks great before they make it to the thread.

Now I have to go to a thread that I want to post in, then copy paste and preview. Sometimes this does not work out right. and I am left with a post that is less than perfect when I truly want a killer post that will make people go (wow that WUK is brilliant!) but it fails because I have to edit and edit and edit in order to perfect my post.

In the Debate forums this is not allowed and it makes it harder for me to post a great rebuttal.

Thanks for moving the thread for me Disgustipated....
anyway like you said I'll be willing to trade my old books for someones Else's old book etc. As a photographer I'm always looking for camera gear... ya know stuff like that...anyway was just a thought and might be best posted on BTS rather then here... maybe a way to make BTS more popular too?

HI, I have a request, is it possible to make the U2U feature more user friendly?
What I am hoping is that in the future the flood control can be raised to accommodate more activity.
I love checking u2u's first and yet I am only allowed one before the control kicks in. Sometimes I end up being distracted by the forums and end up forgetting to respond in a timely manner.
Thanks, I do appreciate all that you do for us to make this site so great.

Going along with this, remove the anonymity of the stars. Make it so that you can mouse over the star and see the donor.

Who ever owns this website (Im figuring works for our government)
Can i get a better system for sending messages, this way,how it is now,is like from 1980's....

Can we Organize it,the Forums better (you know, like how the government does it....)
Where we dont have to see a billion topics in a billion categories,Cant we some it down to lets say,um =3 like Trinity....you know?

When i first came on,i was like wow, what a mess ,but nice website tho,but wow, what a mess....(like what my bedroom or something would look like)
oh yeah, and one more thing, can we get a Profile that has better and more options like myspace or something,or is that asking for way too much?

D4mn,oe more thing,is there a way we can send voice messages back and forth instead of text, yes we have the technology....but i think everyone should know that.

and if you dont work for government, then its all for fun....BUT if you do,Ill be back like Jesus.
