Simple fix to all your advert problems:

Firefox + Adblock Plus = Surfing heaven

I recommend it.

Why would you actively promote depriving your favorite sites of their only source of revenue.

Do you rip all the ads out of magazines before you read them?

I personally don't mind most of the ads here on ATS. I've even clicked on a few that caught my interest.

I find it quite annyoying though when the ads actually interefere with the ATS interface. I go to click something just as an add pops up under the cursor and I get redirected.
Especially when I am on a slow computer.

Good point.
I tend to just ignore them. Once I find a topic I'm interested in, I am absorbed and don't 'see' the adds at all (apart from hearing that damn annoying 'helloooo'....but it's a minor hassle). This day and age, advertising is everywhere so just try to block it out as much as possible.

You recommend breaking the rules that you agreed to follow? That should be a warnable offense, encouraging people to break the rules of the board.

From the T&C that you said you would follow.....

4b) Ad Blockers: As AboveTopSecret.com is provided as a free service, in part through the income of our advertising, you agree not to use "ad-blocking" software or similar built-in web browser options while using the website(s).

The bandwidth costs for a website like this must be astronomical. Using ad-blockers here is like agreeing to sit through a time-share meeting to get the free weekend but skipping the meeting taking the free weekend anyways.

Don't forget that not doing what you agreed to do makes you a liar, why should anyone take anything you have to say seriously anymore?

Just saying. I don't use it myself, wouldn't know how to.

In magazines I don't get an obnoxious "JUST SAY SOMETHING!!" pop out and scare the hell out of me. I find that something that I doubt most people can tolerate

Are you the real life version of Dwight Schrute?

You must be a blast to work with volunteer sheriff Tiloke

Does ATS make money per click? (I genuinely do not know
)

If so then the person who installs the adblock software is probably not the kind of person that would click an ad so you probably wouldn't be losing anything.

In fact, the only person missing out could be the user who blocks the ads. They may well be missing a truely fantastic offer!

I have not seen one recently but I find the China Love ads offensive.

China has serious people trafficking problems with an increasing number of women and children being abducted/disappearing each year. I find the thought of buying people online bizarre. But then again, each to their own and some people probably feel that is the only option they have for whatever reason.

Did I just talk myself out of argument?!

I agree about the China Love ads.

I don't know, it just seems so ... creepy.

Then again, since I'm a straight woman, I'm probably not their target demographic

I can't stand it anymore. Worst Ads Ever? The Barack Obama and MSNBC ads, and the fact that they both showed up at the same time?

This is a conspiracy site....right?

I actually thought the MSNBC advert was good, I clicked one for the first time recently, it was basically just a link to their free video service they have up, i forget what video caught my eye now, but it was probably olbermann doing his best 'fair and balanced' impression.

The only ads that actually annoy me are ones with sound, or lots of flashing.

You just dont like tht zap ad' becuase, you have clicked it before ,maybe not here but you have.

I have an idea as a member of ATS click one ad' on purpose every time you come here. Not because it was on some other site and you clicked it unwillingly, or because it looked pretty and had a free i pod.

Every time you come to ATS and that goes for all or you click an ad' on purpose @ATS

We could do with the revenue and you would be makeing a difference,

But i doubt you even vote? (directed at nobody) So why not rock the boat and do your own thing.............like click an ad because you wanted to ,you knew why you was clicking it, and what the consequences
where.........and no mater how pretty the other ads' look on other sites you saved your click for ATS........Thats power

Im gonna go click an ad' before i change my mind and dont click send

Dave rabbit says star and flag the mutha

Im saying click the mothers ad

Well at least we don’t have to look at porn ads all day. Be thankful for that. Actually the ads with “DISNEY” written in tiny letters in the top right corners of them creep me out more than porn ads but that’s just me.

can it get any worse than that?!

So Long as I never see another Department of homeland security ad I shall always be happy to give some of my attention to ATS ads. I don't mind the anti pot ads (even though I am pro- legalize it), I like the online university ads, I am amused that ABC is advertising here even though I am not gonna watch "Samatha Who"(sorry poor plot premise) BUt when I see ads for this nations defense it irritates me for two reasons.

One I already know about it. No government service needs to advertise. I know about the post office army and Border patrol. Advertising wastes my tax dollars telling me something I know about.

and TWO....I abhor the very creation of such a loathsome un-constitutional national socialist institution... A plague A Plague upon the DHS and its creators. They shall make worms meat of us all!!

I am going to get an ad blocker. I am sooo sick of the constant clicking noise when the ATS page reloads. I am assuming from an ad?? Why must we deal with this???? NO MORE!

Hi Skeptic Overlord. I have two painfully bad ads: One is for a local company out of Boulder CO who makes and sells "wee-wee pads" for dogs. I can't even begin to describe the horror of the child actor. The second that comes to mind is anything with the motto: "zoom zoom"
