As Ontario is facing a near record breaking heat wave, an elderly woman was left alone in a locked car in a Wal-Mart parking lot by her daughter and granddaughter.

A 97-year-old woman is recovering in a Burlington hospital after she was left alone in a sweltering vehicle for almost an hour during the worst heat wave of summer while her family went shopping.

With criminal charges laid against her daughter and granddaughter, Phyllis Arnott can't return to her home.

"We do love her. It's not like we meant to do it," her granddaughter, Kimberly Bouclair, 36, said yesterday. "It was an accident ... we just didn't think."

"We just didn't think." Wow, what love.
Emergency crews estimated that the temperature inside the vehicle was close to 50C (122f). She was in there for close to an hour.
It is sick. We hear about this in the news all the time, usually with dogs and sometimes even with children. By now I would think it is common knowledge not to leave anyone in a car on a hot day.
Ontario has been facing a heatwave with 10 days of temperatures topping 30C.
Being 97 years old I bet even the temperature outside of the car is unbearable. Meanwhile her daughter and granddaughter are shopping in an air-conditioned Wall-Mart.

86? while not ultra killer hot, yeah that'd suck to wait in a car specially since inside car was 122 (ahh west texas), they didnt even hook her up with any AC ?

NEOCRYPTOFASCISTS!

I mean wth, if I ever had to wait in a car I was always like "'ey man you gotta leave those keys noob"

I say we lock them in car in dallas, when it's 99% humidity and 98 f outside, seems fair to meh.

I heard about that, people can be so selfish.

Why didn't they just take her with them.

I wonder if she said she wanted to wait in the car? Very sad anyway.

Babies have a certain insurance plan with their neo-natal inspiration, the elderly are in a more precarious dependence.
