News has just been aired that Lebanon is to be evacuated, after Hezbollah attacks Haifa with more than 20 rockets, one hitting a train station killing 8. It's not looking good. Waiting for updates.

Lebanon is a country, they are not going to evacuate an entire country.
Maybe some major cities, but it doesn't make a difference the Israeli's will hunt
down and kill as many civilians as possible anyway, is what they enjoy and take
pride in.

I've got it from Fox News unfortunately. I don't know what they mean by "Lebanon" but I'm guessing Beirut at least or Tyre?

Aljazeera has an article outlining what is known at the moment.

This is a very risky situation and I fear a tremendous potential for tragedy
if Hezbolluh fighters attempt to bring down an evacuation airliner filled with
Western nationals.

Yes south Lebanon i think, but that was said a long time ago, and to be honest ,even though people are leaving a lot will stay.

I think most if not all foreigners are to be evacuated from Beirut by sea

And wouldn't that be due in large part to the fact that Israel bombed the airport in Beirut?

I would hope that everyone would evacuate. The TV news said that the French
are sending a Ferry with two warships as escort to evacuate the French. Other
countries are evacuating as well. America has 25,000 to evacuate.

HEY! This is just a small spit of a country. If all these tens of thousands ...
perhaps hundreds of thousands ... of foreigners evacuate then just how many
native Lebanese are there really?
And of those left ... what kind of
numbers do Hezbollah and their Iranian 'helpers' have in country?

There can't be too many Lebanese if that small piece of land is evacuating
so many foreigners. And what the heck are 25,000 Americans doing there
anyways? I know it's a vacation spot ... but that number seems high.

I dont think they will be airlifting these people out, last i heard Israel had destroyed all the airports. Most likely a sea evacuation, id be more worried about Israel taking a pop at one of the evacuation ships.

I think the US government got the word that after that train station rocket all hell is about to break loose. I imagine America is holding Isreal back just long enough to get Americans out.

Some of those 25,000 American citizens are permanent residences with dual citizenship.

The messy part is that roughly 2,200 Marines will be used to secure an emergency airfield,
hopefully with a temporary stand down of Israeli gunfire.

It will take between 50-100 chartered jets to evacuate all those high risk nationals.

This is why I say the potential for tragedy is tremendous.

It doesn't take much imagination to see how U.S. involvement in that region and the potential
for an attack against an evacuation plane could trigger irreversable escalation of an already bad situation.

Canada & UK will probably receive support from the US in evacuating nationals. I expect a helo air bridge to Cyprus. Maybe even landing ships ferrying people to the LHD for loading on to helicopters and then on to Cyprus. I just hope we do not see a C-802 being fired at the Iwo Jima.

Sweden sends it's citizens to Syria in busses. 10-12 busses with 50 Swedes each left Beirut for Syria. The french are going to evacuate 20,000 from Beirut.

Syria has insured free and safe passage across their borders for any Western nationals.

This is why Israel announced that there would be no attacks on Syrian territory " at the moment "

if someone takes a pop at one of the warships, be it a fabricated attack from Israel, or an attack with an Iranian missile. Things might get even more ugly

Yes the south part of lebano has been evacuating already, US and any other foreign personal would be allowed to go to the neighboring Island.

Many people has not the means or ways to leave the areas been under attack.

The south has been rendered in ruins.

The UK are sending two Warships also France is sending two cruise ships to the area to evacuate, british and other Nationals, Have been watching all the news channels today.

If israel did attack any of the warships Iran would be blamed for it. Nice opportunity for the us or its allies to take action against iran.
