"BEIRUT, Lebanon - Israeli warplanes and gunboats struck a Palestinian guerrilla base 10 miles south of Beirut"

They didn't REALLY think Israel would just take them taking 2 more soldiers and killing others, did they?

This is starting to get ugly....sigh.

The sentiment in Lebanon amongst the population is profoundly anti-Syrian now, well, that is what I have been able to gleam through reading blogs and newspaper opinion columns.

They are completely terrified of Israel and understand why they're doing this and the blame seems to fall upon the Assad family for driving this crisis.

In Lebanon it is still Syria pulling the strings, something they resent to a level deeper than their hatred for the Israeli incursion.

"JERUSALEM, July 12 (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Hizbollah's cross-border attack on Wednesday was an act of war by Lebanon and he pledged a powerful military response"

and it gets worse with each new news report...............sigh

This statement of course refers to the kidnapping of 2 soldiers.

"Senior officers in the IDF say that the Lebanese government is responsible for the soldiers' abduction. According to the officers, if the kidnapped soldiers are not returned alive and well, the Lebanese civilian infrastructures will regress 20, or even 50 years"

This is just not good.
Not only do they have the ability to do this, they also have the will if it is called upon.

"There is every indication that Israel is on its way to a wide escalation of its military operations, both in the north and in the Gaza Strip."

I must sadly agree with this analysis.

This will also help the USA in the G8 summit. I have already heard the government say that this terrorism and provocation of Israel is connected to Iran and Syria and the people who did this are trained by Tehran's government.

If I lived in Israel I would want my government to do this as well. But I just don't want them to harm the Lebanese people. What have they done in all this? Maybe it is just a threat mixed with anger that they are threatening this. I know the other governments would do this as well if this happened in their own country though.

As I said, it looks to be getting ugly...or more ugly!

"GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - A bomb dropped by an Israeli warplane destroyed the Palestinian Foreign Ministry building early Thursday, witnesses said."

Funny thing about declaring war on a country with a MUCH stronger military than you, they tend to declare and make official war back on you.

If this doesn't go Israels way they'll just come crying to us. Personally I hope we turn our backs on them. They share the biggest blame for the problems in that region. It would be the forum equivalent of flame baiting. They take a jab at someone, wait for a response, and then scream terrorism when in fact they are the biggest terrorists on the planet.
