Must admit I'm baffled

Could someone please explain why some threads are shuffled off from WoT to Politics Of War on PTS?

There appears to be little rhyme nor reason why this happens. Some posts are off there quick as, others on WoT degenerate into discussions of very minor US-only issues and yet remain in WoT.

I'm getting the impression that threads critical of the US or not entirely US-centic are more readily moved - surely this isn't the case?

This is not a pop at the mods, I know you all do a good job and I'd have your babies if I was biologically capable (and as long as you don't have beards :barf

Be interested to know how you decide

I've moved some of those thread to Politics of War.
I think the difference between WOT and POW is that POW tries to debate the political reasons behind the WOT.
Some of the moved threads discuss political events related to the war.

I think the idea was to remove politics as much as possible from the ATS forum. I don't think they were "shuffled off" to PTS, but were moved to a forum that more accurately reflects the topic of the thread.
PTS is an equal part of the ATS community, after all.

Thanks - still think it's a bit of a muddle but appreciate someone has to make those decisons.

Do you have a beard?

Nope.

Because each thread is unique, moderators must use their best discretion in deciding where a topic fits.

Topics which approach the War on Terrorism from the standpoint of conspiracies (deliberate plotting to commit wrongdoing) are most suited to the War on Terrorism forum, while topics which approach the War on Terrorism from a political or public policy standpoint (most of what is now in WoT, in my opinion) are most suited to the Politics of War forum.

Traditionally, we have not made such a strong distinction, and let's be candid: right now, most members consider having a thread moved to PTS almost as bad as having it trashed.

And indeed, such threads usually languish.

However, that's going to change. In fact, if I have my way, very soon members are going to prefer to discuss the War on Terrorism on PTS.

Why? Well, we're not there yet.

But let's check back in oh, say a month or two and see if I'm right.

Shall we hold ya to that majic? If ya want me to, I will. In two months, if nothing's been changed, I'm going to blame you, ok?

i dont even try to understand majics verbosity

so here goes the simple , IMHO take

WOT -- threads should be factual reporting of WHAT has occured

POW -- threads should be WHY events occur

sometimes less is more

but remember that mods are human [ aledgedly ] and have different opinions on how a given guidleine should be enforced

and does it REALLY matter where threads go ???

Is this policy still in place?

If so, do the numerous mods actually know about it?

On WoT now thre are numerous 'opinion' threads which have been left un-moved by mods. Again the un-moved threads are US-centric / started by US posters.

Please can we have some consistency in application of policy

I find that comment very offensive. Please retract it and post a formal apology. *flicks forked reptoid tongue angrily*

You seem to be confused still.

Opinion is FINE in WOT as long as it's opinion about the war, conspiracy behind the war or what have you whether it's US centric or not has no bearing. If it's a political discussion then and only then does it get moved to POW.
