Many of you may have heard the ramblings of this man. A University of Texas professor that believes the only way for any of us to live, is by killing off 90% of human life using an airborne Ebola Virus.

There are CDC labs that have access to such viruses and diseases. A few scientists tinkering around can evolve and mutate any virus into super viruses. What would stop a terrorist cell from stealing such viruses and unleashing them as biological weapons?

Maybe this professor is speaking for a large number of politicians and other high profile figures, who believe population reduction not only is a smart thing to do, but the only thing to do.

Mumps reappeared in several states with a few thousand affected. The Black Plague has been found in Utah recently. Cases of small pox which is supposed to be eradicated has sprung up again too. Someone is tinkering with these viruses. Imagine if this Airborne Ebola Virus were unleashed? How many would die before we could stop it? 20%? 30% or maybe the professor's key 90%?

Makes me worry that people like him are teaching higher education classes. Also, if he is standing and using his voice, who's to know how many other's feel the same as him, but choose not to be heard?

False. I spent a couple years of undergrad studies (about 6 years ago) working in a genetics laboratory, and many of my friends are now PhDs in biochem, genetics, etc. , and they can tell you as well as I that transfecting a virus with new DNA is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT and not very efficient as of today.

The same things stopping them from dispersing anthrax: means, money, and opportunity.

Mumps reappeared in several states with a few thousand affected.

Of the 2,597 mumps cases, only 1,275 cases were confirmed as mumps genotype G. This still makes it a bit above the annual mumps cases reported in the US, but not too high.

The Black Plague has been found in Utah recently.

That's because bubonic plague never disappeared and is actually more common than you think. It's carried typically by chipmunks and squirrels.

Cases of small pox which is supposed to be eradicated has sprung up again too.

Source? I would think those like me in the medical community may have heard of this and would have been notified. I guess I missed that memo.

Sorry, I made an error on the small pox case. It was a suspected case that turned out to not be a confirmed case of small pox. I just re-read the article. Thank you for your input though, it does ease my mind a bit.

Sure, not a problem.

I think I remember the article you were talking about. I didn't actually hear of it until they had confirmed it wasn't smallpox, which may be why it didn't stick out in my memory. Good catch, though.
