This might be a stupid question, but I thought it might make for an interesting experiment for ghosthunters. If the popular theory holds true that spirits suck the energy out of electronic equipment in order to manifest and become active I was if anyone had ever made large abount of electricity available to them. For instance maybe setting up some large batterys or even car batteries in place where activity is supposed to occur. Just a thought. Has anyone ever tired it begore?

Good idea; but it would have to be direct current that they like. Ulternating current is everywhere, and for some reason its always batteryied things they seem to drain (rather than something that's switched on) so yeah go for direct current.

The other things ghosts like is thought energy; but maybe that's bit dangerous as it has led many people to real cases of madness. Like when they use Oujia boards and stuff; worst thing is you don't know what you are giving your energy to. Be careful about that as otherwise that's another way of commiting mass sin by aiding something that isn't worth aiding; ether from your perspective or the so called "world of spirit" (whatever that acturally is mind you).

Proving ghosts would be quite a good idea (providing we can't put it in a weapon or something like that, which someone would surely do) this is because people who follow Blair and Bush would know that they have a hell to go to once they leave this world. Therefore they may think twice about leaving this world a worse place.

It seems to me that giving this method a shot might solve a number of problems. For one, maybe there would be less of a chance that the entity would drain a very usefull infer-red camera or even just a much needed flashlight. Two, if you could prove that a battery that should have a life of say several months completely or even mostly gets sucked dry when introduced to a supposedly active , it would make for an interesting case in itself.

Seems like an interesting idea. It's not just electrical energy though, they absorb all energy. That is why ppl commonly feel cold spots, heat is a form of energy. If it
take away the heat in the air to manifest itself, then that would leave a cold spot. Would like to see this experiment used though. It would be interesting at the least.

Absolutly heat and cold could also make a difference. I think used in conjunction with a scientific investigation it might make that investigation that much more legitimate. Bottom line, I don't think it could'nt hurt.

If anyone who reads this does do any kind of ghost hunting or paranormal investigations and are willing to give this idea a shot I would appreciate any problems found or discoveries made.

I dont believe they "suck" energy...I feel they interfere with it...if anything..

I have used Ouija s for 20 years and called upon any and every being to show themselves...In the few profound experiences I have had, Ive seen:

Two battery operated flashlights, go out, at exactly the same time

fuse box breaker click off

my friends hair stand straight up off her head

phones ring with dial tone sounding

toilet flush

a door bell ring, that was disconnected

freak occurance? or connection?...who knows...I couldnt get the same results upon request ...Was it happenstance or interference, I dont know

don't hunt them...that'll just make them angry.

Use a ouija board and "speak" to them. That much more friendly now isn't it?

I appreciate all of the good responses. When I began thinking about this idea I was sort of imagining using it in conjuction with EVP and apparition phenomena. I wonder if introducing a jacobs ladder contraption that could actualy introduce raw electrical energy into the atmosphere might be more usefull. I am a firm believer in proof and the scientific method. I still think it would be amazing just to prove that electricity in batteries or any other source can be expended at an extremely unusual pace when introduced to a setting where a supossed haunting has occured or still in occuring.

oooh...I like that Jacobs Ladder contraption idea. A great big jacobs ladder. Not sure what would happen to the ghosties though...

Yeah, I was gonna say use a Van De Graff machine or something similar. Although the battery draining thing could be them being messed up by the super magneticness that tends to hold/attract 'ghostly energies' to areas.

Then technically an electromagnetic pulse would either make ghosts super-powerful or wipe them all out entirely. I can't decide which one I think it would do.

Anyway I've heard the bad ghosts feed off of fear, so if you are trying to manifest ghosts, I wouldn't suggest feeding any of them that feed off emotions or it might get bad.

Years ago I had heard of a scientist, that did whacky experiments with gravitational forces, and electromagnetism. His name was Hutchinson. He was not a scientist, but sort of a backyard inventor/techie. His "effect" causes all sorts of "supernatural" phenomena including objects levitating as well as objects melting into each other, for instance a 2x4 piece of wood and blocks of steel and iron phasing into each other.

In some ways, these supposedly mimic the Philidelphia experiment, that had gone awry., with people phasing through the ships hull and being stuck in it.

The energy that his tools gave off fueled strange events, maybe he was onto something?

look up, "The Hutchinson Effect"

I recently saw a television program called naked science concerning the Hutchinson effect. I think that it is interesting, but also it is odd that a scientist with such an amazing breakthrough would be totally uniterested to prove his experiments by displaying them to an awaiting public. The films of his experiemtns also seem to me to be a bit suspect of trickery.

I do think that the magnetism idea is possibly linked to ghostly phenomena. I remember a case in Texas about eight years ago where a large deposit of limestone underneath a home may have been the culprit of a series of haunting events. Apparently a small stream ran directly through the limestone deposit resulting in an unusual electromagnetic field.

It may be interesting to use a Tesla Coil as opposed to a jacobs ladder. Eaiser to set up and more likely to disperse energy evenly. I know that these ideas don't compensate for energies like fear and the like, but I have seen batteries unexplicably drain with my own eyes. I have also been with people who were terrified when walked through a supposedly haunted local and seen nothing unusual. Of the two theories I can only say I'd run with the one I've seen.

I would imagine magnetism has more to do with interfering with your own brain, as that uses electricity and produces its own fields. Also magnets make "photons?" travel in straight lines in order to make up the magnets field. Therefore my guess is that magnets would make energy less random. Regarding the hot and cold thing what would happen if you ran a fringe on direct current? Surely it would provide the eternity with everything it needs? Then again I bet it would do nothing; in which case what's missing?
USING OUJIA BOARDS IS DANGEROUS Possibly we would be better of if they had never been invented. They have a good track record of causing harm, we do not know who we are giving our energy to; and what effect this may have.

We have so much evidence that there is an afterlife but only something like modestly funded government funded research for public information can provide the big prize of showing there is one (if there is one). In the meantime super natural knowledge is one area I would like to see remain backwards. Righteous forces should not need you at an Ouija board there are other things they can do before we get to that. Chances are it is bad, and bad again that. All we know is that something wants you to play a game in which it does not have to tell the truth; and which it gains something whilst you are entertained but you have no real idea what that something its gaining is, where it begins or where it ENDS

xxKrisxx you must know that people have mucked up their lives using Ouija boards, and many more people get things in their house long after its gone (i.e. after they think they have stopped using the board). So why are you such a fan of using them?
surrender-dorothy Did you know that even though you can get real information that you would have thought could only come from the dead person you think you are contacting; you are actually probably talking to demon? Human ghosts don't seem to have that much energy at their disposal whilst demons do. Many people don't believe in them, but then not many have explained an Ouija board ether. Ouija boards are probably something that should never have been invented; though I suppose they do provide a good source of evidence.

What if there are such things as sole catches-destroyers? Would you want to be lending your energy to them? Because I guess it’s a fat lot of mercy you will get when your life is over. And what use is an arrogant dead person then? There are millions of them; are we so individual then? (in comparison to all there is to choose from).

I'm not sure if ghosts absorb energy or not. That would be nice to have some friendly ghosts absorb the heat energy in my house so that I don't need to run the air conditioning. I bet they would be very welcome where I work at. They could absorb tons of heat energy but I have failed to see any do this so far. I believe it's more likely if you have a ghost, the ghost will somehow manipulate your thermostat to make the air conditioner turn on and create a cool spot.
