the day after a new techniquie for detecting over 6000 genetic defects the uk government says in may introduce free ivf to all couples,

sounds like gatica to me

sounds nazi,but who would say no, to their kid being desease free
what gover ment would want their citizans to be the most healthy and resistant to illness.

this worries me.

There's a big difference between detecting 6000 genetics defects and being able to directly alter embryos. I see now problem with a couple who is undergoing IVF deciding not to use an embryo because it has the Downs sydrome trisomy, or any other genetics condition like Huntingtons. This is not at ALL the same as choosing an embryo who will be faster, better, stronger, or anything other attribbute. We aren't even sure which genes would control this, yet.
