Has anyone elses PS2's given up the ghost?
mine has faithfully served me ever since they came out and has just broken down

Hmm, you were quite lucky I reckon. I'm on my 4th :shk:

I had two original black ones, both lasted about a year each. I had a silvery blue one that died after about 5 months ( :shk::shk: ) and now a slimline one which is good, but has given up playing Gran Turismo 4, like my last one did before "giving up the ghost".

I think the new slim ones are more reliable than the old ones, but you were lucky to have lasted this long without needing a new one!

Its likely that all thats wrong is your laser is out of line. I bought mine off ebay as broken, realigned the laser (very easy), and have had no problems for nigh on two years. I've got a link to a website that details what you need to do, but its at home. I'll post it later

wow!! 4th!
im thinking of taking it in to an EB and trading it in for a new one.
my PS2 is just suddenly freezing and then the screen goes funny and refuses to start up again for an hour.
and i only just got Black!:shk:
