That IS odd not even a flicker for over a week, yet that ring of fire is lit up like a christmas tree today. Haven,t been paying attention to it for a while. I think I will watch CA for the next week or so.

Get ready California, You're days are numbered. Get Ready Madrid fault you're days are numbered! Has anyone else notice the awakening of the Mid atlantic ridge something very big is indeed coming soon. I don't really care who wants to believe it or not but when it comes nothing else will be on tv- forever!

One thing is for sure, no matter how much punishment, Yah i said it, punisment is unleashed on this earth there will still remain those who chose to live worthless selfcentered lives. They will remain forever a testiment to there own stupidity even as those in pompey remain to this day in petrafied rock.

Well there goes my theory that the logical progression from alaska, to Port Charlotte would follow that CA was next with 5-6 mag quakes. Looks like it bypassed CA altogether and continued further down. That is most interesting indeed

Not including the newest quake that was over 6.0 we are now at over 500 "aftershocks" since this all started. It's still going! Out of all the emails I got back no one answered me as to at what point this stops becoming normal.

It stops being normal when it hits 8.0

6 and under have had this frequency since 1973

I did see earlier on in the week, southern california had a 4.3 and some small aftershocks.

To DearWife

Did you see the space Photo of one of the Volcanoes erupting that is part of all these little earthquakes in Alaska?

Its right here, in case you missed it

zorgon,

Thanks for the pic. I looked up more information on that Volcano which is called Mt. Cleveland.
en.wikipedia.org...(Alaska)

I was curious to see how far it was from one of the distances of these quakes by using Google Earth.

I used one of the last ones I posted.
MAP 5.6 2006/07/02 18:26:40 50.337 -179.446 50.0 ANDREANOF ISLANDS, ALEUTIAN IS., ALASKA

img484.imageshack.us...

If these quakes are coming from Mt. Cleveland, shouldn't these quakes be a little more near than what it is? Am I putting the coordinates in correctly?

Now it's at 58. And I no longer see the 5.6 I had posted earlier.
earthquake.usgs.gov...

Anyone else seeing this?

No it was simply one of the hundreds of volcanoes in the area thats rumbling.

The reason the magnitude changes between checks is because the original data is posted automatically from different sensors. When all data is correlated it usually moves the pointer down

Here is more DID YOU FEEL IT?

Here is a good one that puts it in perspective

MAGNITUDE

notice the number per day of each intensity. Kinda interesting

So ummmm anyone worried bout that asteroid thats coming July 3rd? Pretty close call... 30,000 miles from the moons orbit. IF they are right in their calculations
[getting the bunker ready... just in case]

Huge asteroid to fly past Earth July 3

Man what a 4th of July bang that would make!

Great!

The closest approach occurs late Sunday for U.S. West Coast skywatchers.

Now I have to keep watch for an asteroid, beside quakes.

Only a few more days...

I figure maybe tonight it may make mention on the 11:00 news. Not sure they usually leave that out till the last minute. Maybe don't want to cause "needless" panic?

Here could be a possible cause of all the quakes in Alaska, the weight of melting glaciers are lifted and apparently causing quakes.

Scientists say melting glaciers could induce tectonic activity. The reason? As ice melts and waters runs off, tremendous amounts of weight are lifted off of Earth's crust. As the newly freed crust settles back to its original, pre-glacier shape, it can cause seismic plates to slip and stimulate volcanic activity according to research into prehistoric earthquakes and volcanic activity.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. I also think that pumping all that oil out could also increase the severity of quakes, after all we use it for a lubricant, maybe the earth does too. Kinda like letting your car run out of oil, starts running rough real quick.

SHHHH I gave them enough to worry about in here
Don't need to add Polar Ice Cap meltdown and massive global flooding and climate changes to the mess.

Lets at least wait till that asteroid passes, shall we?

As to that theory about the ice though, if you check back in records to 1973 you will see the same pattern, so I am not sure the ice is a major factor yet.

As to the oil, thats a cute idea, but the oil is trapped in domes under pressure. If it was in faults to help move the earth... it wouldn't accumulate in the domes. We only can get oil that has been trapped here. There is tons more just seeping around in rock, taking hundreds of years of heat and pressure to collect.

PS we really won't run out of it for a long long time. Atabasca oil sands in Canada has almost 3 times the reserve of Saudi Arabia, and most US oil wells are capped for the future
