Three bombs have gone off in kirkuk

The first explosion on Tuesday went off at about 7.30am (0330GMT) in a market in the northern Iraqi oil city of Kirkuk, police said.

A car bomb followed about 30 minutes later in front of the main police headquarters. Police commander Major-General Turhan Yusuf survived the attack, but two policemen were among the dead.

sixteen are being reported dear with twenty six injered.
Kirkuk is a centre for oil production and home to ethnic and sectarian mix of kurds.
