I just finished watching the Mel Gibson movie "Forever Young."

It had been some years since I had seen it and it awoke memories of events which happened to me some years ago having to do with ones first love.

Ones first love often sticks in ones mind or soul as something special. I still remember her though It has been some years and she has married and has a child. Her hair was red and she was slim and graceful. In our day I was very much in love with her.

What happened to me since breaking up with her has happened twice.

The first time I was in Sears in a shopping center looking through a leather products kiosk. There she suddenly appeared in her graceful walk as she walked through the opening of my vision.
I was thunderstruck...totally unprepared..my vision suddenly almost blacked out ..or zeroed in to where there was only her in my line of sight...nothing else existed. Everything else was black. My limited field of vision followed her as she walked across the opening in the kiosk. My heart pounded...into my brain..there was a ringing in my ears. It was like I was stuck in my place. My feet and legs wouldnt work. They wouldnt move...like super glue..they were so heavy. I had never experienced such a thing before. She literally took my breath away. It was like being pulled out of my body but my feet and legs wouldnt follow.

Some years later ...I was sitting on a bench in front of a J C Pennys store in a mall and it was the same thing. There she suddenly was...walking up the mall. Once again my vision blacked out to where there was only her before me. Ringing in my ears..heart pounding ..feet stuck in place along with my backside to the bench. Breathless. Once again the pulling of my soul from my body. She still looked the same to me ..beautiful. Once again she literally took my breath, my soul.

And once again ..she walked out of my life.

I will always remember her with a certain fondness. These is the only two times I have ever had such a powerful out of control reaction to a woman.

I shall have to acquire a copy of Mel Gibsons Movie "Forever Young" for my collection.

Thanks,
Orangetom

Ahh, young love. I remember my first love very well, especially the day she broke up with me... which was on the same day I got my GCSE exam results. :shk:

I remember, the next time I saw her was about three months later and I started shaking really badly, it was awful.

Ah well, she seems very happy with her life now, so I'm happy for her.

First love is magical. They rarely last and maybe that is why they remain like an enigma in our mind we can never quite recaputure or duplicate.

I didn't think I could bare to part with my first love but I did, in 1973 when he left with a group of The Children of God. He was so intense, at age 18 he was desperate to find "the truth" -- well about a year of traveling with them didn't do the trick. He wrote me a couple of times a month, with return addresses like: General Delivery, Idaho Springs, CO. I saved every letter. Well I was only 15, and by the time he returned, I had met someone else. We both went on and believe it or not, 10 years later we met by chance, and tried to pick up where we left off, but it was not to be.
