I missed the SERPO hoax when it was first emerging nearly 20 years ago. Although the RU team managed to nail the culprits behind it, if they'd had the patience to investigate a bit longer they may have got a long look behind the curtain and found out what makes the Vegas UFO Mob do what they do and have done since the 1980s.

Sadly, like many UFO websites of the past the Reality Uncovered website has vanished from the web. However there remains some wayback archives that may be of interest. Starting with:

Project Serpo Uncovered

....All of the information presented to Victor Martinez and Bill Ryan by "Request Anonymous" came in fact from Richard C. Doty. Martinez may have suspected Doty's involvement, but Bill Ryan knew from the very start that he was getting the Serpo material directly from the former AFOSI security guard.

Doty has continuously denied having any involvement in the story, despite the mountains of evidence to the contrary. In addition to Doty, Martinez and Ryan, the behind the scenes "Team of Five" who collaborated extensively on the project is completed by Dr. Christopher "Kit" Green - a former analyst with the CIA, and physicist Dr. Harold (Hal) E. Puthoff. The material to follow will show that Serpo was not a lone-gunman operation, but a collaboration between three friends, who between them already had many years experience of scamming the UFO community....

Also another interesting piece about one of the "Team of Five" on the wayback archive.

MJ12, Serpo, and Other Privately Run Hoaxes

Dr. Green's interest in UFOs, which apparently was sparked by Maccabee's reports in 1979, led to a growing personal interest in the subject matter, which continued long after he left the CIA in 1985.

The general timeline of known Ufology involvement (in part, from Bob Collins book Exempt from Disclosure):

1984 - Jaime Shandera receives "Operation Majestic 12" documents.

1986 to 1988 - A meeting at the house of retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Ernie Kellerstrass kicks off "bird" players Richard Doty, Dale Graff, Ernie Kellerstrass, Hal Puthoff, Scott Jones, Kit Green, John Alexander, and Robert Collins himself.

1987 - Shandera, Moore and Friedman release the MJ-12 documents to the public.

1988 - Richard Doty and Ernie Kellerstrass meet with and attempt to impress executive producer Seligman (the producer of "UFO Cover-Up Live") with cloak-and-dagger dramatics.

1989 - Follow-up "group" meeting at an Albuquerque, NM hotel included Hal Puthoff, Kit Green, Rick Doty, Bill and Jaime and Collins. Collins writes, "Kit Green took center stage by proposing several lines of attack involving disclosure strategies."

1990's - Ufologist Timothy Cooper allegedly receives "new Majestic 12 documents". Researchers noted that typewriter anomalies in these new documents matched anomalies produced by Timothy's own typewriter. Note - Timothy Cooper is listed as a contributor, along with Richard Doty, to Robert Collin's book Exempt From Disclosure

2005 - Rick Doty, and pseudonym characters Gene and Paul, launched a story on the Internet called "Project Serpo", a tale about 12 astronauts who went on an exchange program to an alien planet. They claimed this was an alleged disclosure coming from an "anonymous" government insider. The scam was just as strange and ridiculous (and appeared to attempt to compete with) the ongoing Dan Burisch scam.

Eventually, investigators at this site uncovered and revealed the names of individuals privately and very actively involved with the people (two other men...forming what has become termed the "Team of Five") who were distributing the information to the public via an email list and a website (and at least one presentation at a Laughlin Conference). These individuals were none other than - Dr. Christopher Green and Dr. Harold Puthoff, both very good friends of Rick Doty's.

RU investigators also published the fact that Rick Doty's own computer IP was identified on the header of not only the anonymous source emails, but also Paul McGovern's, and several other characters who were allegedly "insiders" communicating only via email, and refusing to meet anyone in person, or speak on the phone.

According to Bob Collins - the old group from the 1980s still exists. This group includes Hal Puthoff, Rick Doty, Kit Green, and Robert Collins, but very likely also includes Ernie Kellerstrass, Dale Graff, Scott Jones, and John Alexander. Collins writes:

"To this day many of us still stay in contact (except for Bill & Jaime) coordinating information while talking with our sources."

I recently asked Dr. Green why he and Hal have remained so involved in this subject matter (UFOs) for so many years - always in the very "thick" of scams such as MJ12, Project Aquarius, Burisch, and Project Serpo; risking getting "outed" and giving the general public the impression that they were also an integral part of the scams perpetrated and distributed by their friend Rick Doty and others. His answer was eloquent, as always:

"In hindsight, even my foray into 'The Team of FIVE' to try and see if Anonymous (The first one) was really a sitting US Government person, 'leaking' some classified data I had seen snippets of before (unrelated to UFO's, actually), to support disclosure in the guise of a fiction to protect psyches...contributed. I am both continuously ashamed I didn't see the risk, and better informed that fewer angels dance on pins than I thought. I believe in angels, too. But my stupid complicity has changed my entire way of both operating, and viewing what is happening. 'Physician...Heal Thyself'?"

Good stuff MM.

I was just going through some stuff re that lady Shawnna.

Mr. Doty sent Shawnna 8 emails in the span of one hour....

While the threats were disturbing, Shawnna would not allow Mr. Doty to intimidate her, and she contacted the NM State Police and forwarded this information & evidence of all of the threats to his immediate supervisor....

From your Doty thread.

Will you read it before or after the Heseltine Rendlesham book Ophi?

BB…quite frankly….don’t know if and when I’ll get to it…….

I have to wade through these and others yet…..including PDF reads..

Ask me the same question in December 😉

MM, you are a formidable UFO scholar...! The UFO Elohim truly blesses you!

I figure if these aliens are real and they do ever come down, they might give us conspiracy-based and skeptical researchers a medal.

Of course, I’m going tongue and cheek here but seriously...

Why only in the US do we have crashed saucers and dead alien bodies... And all this weird alien stuff. Is it the culture or something deeper? Maybe both.

France has many alien encounters without all the crazy that exists in the US.

Anyone actually buy Green and Puthoff were basically innocent bystanders and Doty was the boss ringleader of the "Disclosure" effort? If one doesn't believe such a thing, that's exactly where it starts to get interesting and revealing.

Cultural factors, maybe? Which is probably best proposed by an American.

Nah! LOL! As if an Air Force Sergeant then New Mexico Police Sergeant could really be the brains of the operation?

Then there's this quote....

"In hindsight, even my foray into 'The Team of FIVE' to try and see if Anonymous (The first one) was really a sitting US Government person, 'leaking' some classified data I had seen snippets of before (unrelated to UFO's, actually), to support disclosure in the guise of a fiction to protect psyches...contributed

If you read the whole of the piece it is pointed out that Dr Green

....In 1969, he went to work for the Central Intelligence Agency. By the end of his career with the agency in 1985, he was reporting directly to the Director of the Agency as a Senior Division Analyst

So if he ended his career with 'the agency' in 1985 then what was doing looking for government employees 'leaking classified information' some 20 years after he'd handed in his CIA badge?

It's what I would call Schrödinger's Kit. Where he appears to be telling the truth and is also lying at the same time.

Schrödinger's Kit wins the internet for the month and quite possibly the year if their effort doesn't fizzle out. Very clever. Very true. It's maybe a sad statement about my life, but that made my day so far.

We know Puthoff is a true believer and therefore it's harder for me to use him as any kind of bellwether here.

Dr. Christopher "Kit" Green does represent something of a quantum potential. Where does his personal interest begin and end versus his professional.

And answering exactly what his professional interest is would seem to me to be that useful bellwether.

I know below has been posted on ATS previously but it warrants reference in this current landscape.

Kit then put forward an hypothesis which involved "If something really strange in the area of UFOs is true, then what do we do about conveying that information to the public? First we concede what may be the basic facts: maybe there are civilized lifeforms elsewhere in the universe; maybe they visited us in their spaceships a couple of times, and then went back home...And there may be people in the Government who believe that this did happen, and believe that the information needs to be public knowledge...But then there's another group of people in power who say, 'No, it will make them sick to know all this, we can't let the story out, it's too dangerous." (p.281.)

Kit continued the hypothesis. "The way to do it is to construct a framework whereby they can parse out the things they've heard that are not true, and you whittle it down to a manageable story. A story like this. ' There were three spaceships that came here over thirty years, and we've got one of them. We can't figure out how it works, we've crashed it because..." (pp281-282.)

The hypothesis continues, that you feed stories out "Over ten or twenty years. You put out a bunch of movies, a bunch of books...Then one day you say, "Hey, all that stuff is nonsense, relax, it's not that bad...the reality is this..." (p.282.)

"Here was a very suave, very intelligent man, a man who had been close to the secret machinations of government than anyone we were ever likely to meet. And he appeared to be telling us that the aliens were real..." (p.283.)

There are many stories that shouldn't have had any traction at all.
Serpo.
Dan Burisch with J Rod.
Tomkins.
Goode.
you name it. They are absolutely ridiculous.

I also wonder about Kit Green and his China connections. I mean it could be goodwill academia. Or espionage/counter-espionage. We do know some of the things he's professionally studied. Some here are familiar with the following report chaired by Dr. Green. China and human-use "ethics" get mentioned in the snippets.

It brings to mind the reported experiment by Dr. Green and an associate in Beijing. They tried to quantum entangle minds while in full brain scan or some such. So stuff like this (and there's so much more) make me wonder for example, Doty wasn't the brains of Serpo so what is Kit really doing all over ufology...and even on the science board here at one time (still?)

What if you wanted to learn how tp make folk believe weird stuff? You could sit behind the scenes and collect data on all kinds of abductees and cosmic gurus and such. Anyhoo...some snippets

Emerging Cognitive Neuroscience and Related Technologies, from the National Research Council, identifies and explores several specific research areas that have implications for U.S. national security, and should therefore be monitored consistently by the intelligence community. These areas include:

1. neurophysiological advances in detecting and measuring indicators of psychological states and intentions of individuals

2. the development of drugs or technologies that can alter human physical or cognitive abilities

3. advances in real-time brain imaging

4. breakthroughs in high-performance computing and neuronal modeling that could allow researchers to develop systems which mimic functions of the human brain, particularly the ability to organize disparate forms of data.
As these fields continue to grow, it will be imperative that the intelligence community be able to identify scientific advances relevant to national security when they occur. To do so will require adequate funding, intelligence analysts with advanced training in science and technology, and increased collaboration with the scientific community, particularly academia.

A key tool for the intelligence community, this book will also be a useful resource for the health industry, the military, and others with a vested interest in technologies such as brain imaging and cognitive or physical enhancers.

Appendix F from the same report above---when you dig into this one they talk about using "Abductees" unwittingly for the research:

True and False Memories as an Illustrative Case of the Difficulty of Developing Accurate and Practical Neurophysiological Indexes of Psychological States

An important issue for cognitive neuroscientists concerns efforts to determine whether a person is reporting a true experience or one that is false but believed. In the last decade, there have been innumerable research efforts designed to distinguish true from false memories. Earlier work examining behavioral differences between true and false memories revealed that group differences were sometimes found (for example, more sensory details in true-memory reports) (Schooler et al., 1986). However, the statistical group differences did not enable reliable classification of any particular memory report as to its authenticity...

The military application of neuroscience research - Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists

Several of the cognitive science applications that have the most enormous ethical implication (as described by Huang and Kosal) contain advances that are being made even faster than publicly thought. These advances do not include lie detection technology, whose potential to invade the privacy of individuals is an unrealistic scientific possibility (I'm waiting for a theory of mind to be developed first!). They do include an approach to near-real-time, multimodal cognitive measurements to "watch people think" while under stress (an achievable goal scientifically) not under duress (an unachievable goal scientifically).

Not all of the "good" research will be done exclusively in the West--at least not before 2015. The results of this work will make sick people well and soldiers safer, but the technologies will not exclusively follow Western views on ethical questions, such as human stem-cell research, research on willing prisoners, and work on human-animal chimeras…

Ryan at RU in some ways got the furtherest in the Green research. Basically learning how to weaponize the mighty Meme. Why would somebody want to do that and...um...what are they up to these days, eh?

Is it from the Mirage Men? Well, the premise of that author is completely at fault, in my view.

By following that link you can learn a lot about it and other fascinating and related technologies. Would you believe Mind Control is still a big thing. Big research bucks.

Just remember "mind control" is a broad topic: Sure it can mean all kinds of EM (Electromagnetic) modalities (to include non-ionizing radiation) not to mention this whole thing the IC has about domestic social-engineering through control of narrative (media & talking head ex-spurts) android ol' mythology.

Click around on that book site some and you'll find out about a ton of extant studies that pretty much tell you what you need to know about how serious and topical what used to be called psychological warfare is.

And guess who's quite the busy expert pursuing so many things related to the brain and how ton own it?

Dr. Christopher "Kit" Green.

He ain't studying UFOs, he's studying how to weaponize the psyche. And now here we are, here he and Hal are...and a bunch of other assorted fellow spooks and verified liars when it comes to ufology.
