Let's put it this way, after doin' my time with the Army, Leavenworth is the last place I'd wanna wind up. I'd be willing to bet it's 10 times worse than a private or state/Federal prison. You have to remember, in the military, you are government property, and they will certainly treat you as such.

yes..you have less rights the a civilian and at the same time there are rules and reglations that prohibit them to be TOO extreme towards a military prisoner.

Yeah, currently being in the military, i think that i would rather do a stint on Alcatraz or Rikers Island before I had to go to Leavenworth. I have heard horror stories about that. Having seen what the Air Force calls Correctional Custody (CC), i can only imagine how terrible actual military prison. Im not sure...do the other branches of the service have CC? In the Air Force it consists of digging holes, filling them back up, digging more holes, breaking big rocks into small rocks, massive amounts of crazy physical excersizes. All in all a bunch of crazy # that i would rather not go to

YES..the Navy and Marine Corps have it on and off in the past few years...

The program gets shut down by some officer then it gets opened back up by another one...DAM Officers!..they should just keep it open becuase lots of people go in and come back out not wanting to do anythign to get into trouble...

it seems to work fine.

You guys just seem to be describing run of the mill phsyical excercises and work till exhuastion type things. Plus maybe "vague" psychological harrasment (as in, every prisioner suffers from it) . Federal prision is very different from that. Untill I hear stories of consistent rape and pyscho-sexual torture I think I'd go with Leavenworth any day of the week. Now, mind you, I don't have any experience with either insitutions and nor do I ever want to.

ktpr......

No, you would not go with leavenworth. Its the closest thing to a turkish dungeon we have. I knew a guy who got sent there from my unit. Trust me.

For one, your cells, unlike a real prison, are not airconditioned, your bed is hardly cushioned. There are no TVs, you do not get cable, a library, rehibilitation, free time to do whatever, conujugal visits, and youre lucky if you ever get to see a doctor or dentist. As for rape and sexual torture......it happens. But you wont hear about it too much. From what I understand.....its usually former officers that get it.

i spent 9 years working in the military prison system, USN. and it isn't like that at all. The prisoners have the same rights as a regular active duty member, except their freedom. The go out on work details, have doctor and or dentist visits when they want them.. yes when they feel they need them. There is always a indepent duty corpsman on duty at all times. Leavenworth is were the long term prisoners go - those with sentences over 5 years..at least the usn, usmc, uscg and air force prisoners i delt with on a daily basis at the naval brig in miramar ca. there were no conujugal visitsallowed, but they did get visitors every weekend and holidays. the cells were individualy heated or cooled, 1 prisoner to 1 cell. better food than most of the guys on ships or out in the field. for every hour of work they got a 10 minute break.

i can answer most questions about the usn and usmc prison system....

by the way......state prisons are the worst possible place to be sent.

NO SHYTE! They have so many ways of Frockin' with you in the regular Army alone, let alone bein in Army prison!! I ain't gonna lie, I've always HATED running (The Airborne's favorite exercise). I can only imagine the things Army prisoners have to endure in that respect.
Sorry - I don't know about corrections in the other branches.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA, FRIEND. YA GOTTA FEEL IT AND SEE IT TO KNOW.
And just so ya know, I had the best possible experience in the Army and no complaints. I just saw the myriad ways people got jerked around when the brass didn't like 'em.
