hey if this takes out the key man for PNAC that's great. They propped Rumsfeld up to counter Powell, but if he's gone, this country might be saved yet....

Some of the statements made in the memo suggest that we aren't really "up" on the operations of Al Qaeda. I suspect that you are right, Kukla, this was leaked on purpose. I also suspect that it was released as a psychological warfare tool. Misinformation is likely (i.e. a distraction) as well as including some phrases to trigger 'sleeping' operatives.

What better way to force the next move against you, than to give the impression, or leak out, that the allies are faultering. If terrorism is the target, then if you were a terrorist, and bought into a 'leak', then you could consider this a good time to make your next move.

Remember though, with each "feint" you lose credability. So, yeah, terrorist might be thinking this is good time to strike. But consider the cost to the adminstration. Now, if those costs weren't damaging, then it would mean something like Rex84 program or Alternative Nation 4 or whatever that thing was called, was going down...
