Starting to believe...

Recently had an experience that I am having a hard time explaining to myself....

Quick background...I grew up as a military brat and have been a government IT contractor off and on the past years. Been to over 25 different bases in my career including Fallon, NV and China Lake, CA where some weird things have been reported over the years. But this past weekend I saw something very odd...

I'm out on my back balcony overlooking the Hudson River, NYC and the Bayonne, NJ Container Port and I see this cigar shaped THING flying through the air. No wings, no propeller, no visible engines. Had to be at least 5K-10K feet above the ground and was traveling in a straight line along the horizon. Noticed it out of the corner of my eye and thought nothing of it at first until i realized that it took almost 20 minutes to go from me turning my next all the way to the left till i got all the way to the right.

On top of that...after about 15-20 minutes it appeared to stop, climb straight up at least 2000 feet and then head back the other way in less than 15-30 seconds time. Once it finished climbing it went back all the way to where I first saw it and disappeared. Thing is...the original trip took almost 20 minutes, the return trip took less than one minute.

I had 6 other people with me who saw it so I know I wasn't suffering from the holiday heat and beer. Just something I can't place. Any ideas?

You wouldn't happen to have any pictures though would you? Even a cheap cameraphone pic would help.

Just a fair warning that most of us here are skeptics, so without a pic or multiple testimonies it will likely be dismissed quickly.

Wish I'd had a camera on me but nope. Plus I managed to drop my cell phone in the toilet earlier in the day....just my luck

What color was it?

I've heard of a lot of similar sightings here in the Northeast recently as well, just wanted to see if it was the same thing.

Yea im the other member with a very similar sighting. I live in Tampa florida and i saw it up in the sky , it was very bright and had to be atleast 50ft long.

i dont think we saw the exactly same "ufo" which raises many eyebrows. Why all the activity , well nvm more like Why the fudge are there Cigar shaped Ufos in our skys lately? I think they are some sort of Crusiers or mother ship, maybe an alien satelitte.

I believe I might have had a similar sighting of a metallic rod, I posted about it in my missing time thread.

On second thought, I think it wasn't a plane after all, it was simply too bright!

I also saw something at night that looked like a bright flash, like a light going straight up in space, more than likely an iridium flare though.

All I could tell was that it was dark in color and slightly tapered in the front, flared out in the middle, and then cylindrical in the rear. Very odd.

Some people can be skeptic about aliens/ufos until it happens to them. Until they see it with their very own eyes. Then they try to prove to other skepetics, that aliens do exist.
I was never a skeptic about it. But I've seen it a ufo once, me & my dad.
& what we saw definitely didn't come from earth.
At 1st site, I didnt think it was even a ufo, but as the days went by, I realised it was, of some kind.
