I took my time with the first two (because I thought there was a trick) and they didn't work. So just for kicks I did the third one with the pyramid of threes really fast like it says, and it was spot on: Red and Hammer. Freaked me out for a sec...

...but then if you think about it, repeating the numbers over and over wipes your mental slate clean, so to speak, and you're accessing the number center of your brain. Then when you quickly reboot the color and object memory center of your brain without thinking about it, it naturally spits out the most basic things you learnt as a child: red for a color, and a hammer for tools. I can see how it works, but still pretty cool nonetheless. You could play a trick on your friends, write the words down on a piece of paper, put it in your pocket, have them do the test verbally, and then pull the piece of paper out.
