Presidential history repeating itself? Bush & Rice Affair?

Informed sources Inside the Beltway report that First Lady Laura Bush has established temporary residence in the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC as a result of a tiff with President Bush over an extramarital relationship involving her husband.

Mr. Bush's tryst is said to involve Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. It is not known how long Mrs. Bush plans to remain at the Mayflower, however, her security detail has been present at the hotel during hours when the First Lady would normally be residing in the White House.

While she was National Security Adviser, Rice, who has never been married, referred to George W. Bush as "my husband" before she corrected herself and said, "the president." Rice was speaking at a dinner when she made her "husband" remarks.

Ok Icarus, that was a little more information than I care to know!! Let's keep size estimates and performance techniques in the bedroom where they belong and away from the political conspiracy discussions!

Seems to me, Laura Bush is far more attractive, and far more tensile in character, than Rice. Therefore I cannot see any justification on this rumoured unbusiness between Rice and the President beyond professional association. Less an admission.

She could just think of him as her husband, naturally, because of the amount of time they spend together. That seems more likely to me at this point, but who knows? Anything is possible...

Maybe they're secretly, legally married in Nevada, for legal purposes. That way she can't be forced to testify against him. Just a thought, it would be handy for them to have that in an emergency, like a get out of jail free card - and nobody out-of-the-loop would have to know unless it became absolutely necessary (at which point the last worry on their minds will be reputation and appearances, if they''re trying to squirm out of sentences).

Just a whacky thought; I doubt that's the case.

Your opinion on the ladies is fine, for you, but you can't speak for Bush. Who knows what sort of woman he looks for in a relationship? Also, sometimes the desire for adultery overrides good judgement - people do what they do for reasons that are occasionally quite complex.

There are probably as many nuanced reasons as there are cheaters.

Knowing full well the ATS treatment of such unprovables... I think this thread bears context for my claim...

During the presidents first acceptance speech after this last election, I swear to the holy of holys, that there was a very unusual occurance.

At the begining of the hand clapping... it showed the president coming down the isle, shaking hands with all the big wigs, and big moneys...

it then showed a rather ugly older man, escorting a 20 something, well dressed "swimsuit model type" up to the front of the reception line. The elderly man, touched the presidents shoulder, then promptly placed the woman directly into the "greeting line" where Gdub, spent a moment to hold her hand, and give a small hug... and the holding of hands was supposed to be a handshake, but lingered a bit longer than is normal as they were connected thruout the intro, and the hug, and then upon the departure he pulled away while still holding her hand...

who the hell was she? and why did she merit a personal lingering thanks, rather than the quick hand grab, or shoulder pat like the rest?

I am not saying that it is his monica... but he had the same look in his eye as Clinton, and she did also...

BTW, i have Tivo... and went back and forth on the video forever...
the camera angle has good coverage of how she made her way thru the throng, with the help of the obviously powerful elderly man...

they had an appointment to be in line... if you get me...

I sure as hell missed it and I was watching it! Its probably nothing.. but then again it might just be something since politicians rarely do anything without reason(as delududed as those reasons MAY be)

but still a great observation.

I had two thoughts at the time.
eitehr the old fart was owed a favor by bush, and used it to "get lucky" with a young impressionable girl with an presidential intro...
or she was "the shrubs" gal

When i think of it... it was more of a hand shake with shoulder pat, than an actual embrace type hug...

so scratch the hug part... but the glimmer in the eye... That i can remember clearly... a unique smile that said "see ya later" or "did i earn my donation check yet"
not sure which...

and truthfully... in the modern political world, either is likely...

Hey if he actually gets caught and it gets confirmed (if it's true) what will happen to Bush? The same thing that happened to Clinton?
