Was ATS down for a few minutes recently?

I had been trying to log in for awhile, but I kept getting the page saying this network was unavailable. All other websites were working for me.

Yes...it was. These ads and all are getting on my nerves too...:| tempo tempo.

We had a massive spike of over 600 simultaneous users that overwhelmed even our new monster servers.

Not a good sign.

Yeah, I was down too. Frantically trying to find any email addys that I may have had to see if it was down for anyone else. Jeez, didn't know this was so addictive until you can't access it!!!

I emailed my husband to see if he could log on!

A spike of 600 simultaneously? That's a serious number of requests above what seems reasonable... Hmmm. Kick in the logging apps. It seems fine now... and you could ping above' and below' fine, just the port 80 service was gone for a while. First interruption I can recall since the weekend of the 5th when ATS v5 rolled out.

ATS has grown to a point that we simply can't serve everyone who wants in. We are faced with a dilemma of spending HUGE money on "CNN quality Load Balanced Servers" or struggling through...

Being the moron I am, I vote for spending huge money... Well that's my job, making sure the money is in hand to do what we need to do, looks like I am going to GET BUSY.

We've had 389,539 hits on the single-post display page today alone... that's 24% of all page-views today... that page is normally less than 4%.

It's a conspiracy. First I lost my ATS on that end and a few minutes ago my electricity went out. The Gods must be sending me some kind of signal. I'm going to go pray now and see if I can tune them in. Well, i'm going to go check a few other forums first

My power was cool, but I was unable to use my cell phone during this same time period. Had 3 bars, but unable to complete a call. I'm sure it was just a coincidence though??

That's what it told me, I was in the middle of sending a u2u and I got the "lost connection" notice. My wireless still worked though. I thought I did something wrong, then as I said, I remembered the thread.

Sucks that it happened though, I mean we just upgraded the servers. I know the three amigos must not be happy.

What about a low monthly charge from the members? I know that maybe not everyone can afford alot, however I think that all should be able to come up with at least a low monthly donation to enjoy the benefits we reap from ATS! Whats anyone else think about this, are we willing to put something into what we all enjoy so much? As for me, Im in.

What about it staff, would this be appropriate and would it help us out in what we strive for in the areas of need?

What about someone like me who is currently unemployed due to his age? How do I pay a montly fee?

One of the MOST SACRED vows we, The Three Amigos, have sworn is we would NEVER charge Humanity for it's own knowledge. NEVER. We cover costs through hard work, a little advertising, a little luck (okay, a LOT of luck) or our own pocket books because we CHOOSE TO.

Hell, if I can't make the deals happen to handle what we need I should be shot at day break. Seriously.

It's a labor of love folks. The love would be gone if we started charging dues, it just won't happen. The DAY we decide we can afford to go to the crazy load balanced servers we will do it. Until then we will ALL have to hang in there and keep spreading the word with what we have.

I swear charging people a monthly or anyother fee for ATS will NEVER HAPPEN.

How about allowing members to pay a very small donation to bypass all of the advertisements. I'd pay 3 bucks a month for that, even though I don't make many posts.
