I haven't yet bought a blog, but just barely got enough points to do so. I was wondering though, now that I've read some of these questions: Do I have to know HTML/CSS or any other code just to write a blog? And also, since I see those terms used a lot referring to blogs, maybe I'm confused about what blogs are on this site. It's like a normal blog, right? Nothing important that'll get me in trouble if I use it wrong or something right? (Aside from going against the blog T7C of course.) Sorry for the n00b question, but let's face it, I am a n00b.

No need to know any programming language to put together a blog. Your initial blog will be a standard template. You'll make your enteries in a similar fashion to posting on ATS. However, if you want to "pretty" up your blog, understanding a little HTML/CSS wouldn't be a bad idea.

Welcome aboard! Looking forward to visiting your blog!

As Maria_Stardust pointed out, you don't need to have any CSS or HTML skills to get your blog up and going. But there are a few things that you can do to 'pretty up' your blog, such as adding a picture at the top, that requires very little code.

If you do get a blog (which I sure hope you do - the more bloggers blogging, the better!!) and you want to 'pretty it up', post your question here.

Also, ZeddicusZulorander has a page on his blog on how to
change background color and top (header) image.

EDIT: Spelling

I've typed up a new entry, but can not get it to display when I visit the blog.

How do I go about having my blog display new entries?

Is it "It's Blogging Time?"
I can see that one.

I swear it is only trying to make a liar out of me. After I posted it, I noticed it is now displayed.

However, I notice other members have several entries displayed on the home page. I only have a portion of one entry displayed.

How would I go about displaying my two whole posts on the home page?

Ok I've solved the problem that only a portion of the post was displayed.

I think I may understand why the other one is not displayed. Is it because it was posted several months ago?

In your settings you can change it so x amount of days or entries will show up on your main page.

One last one, I promise!

If you look at my current entry, you will notice that the Canadian flag is along side with the last of my paragraph. I've re-edited countless times with no success.

How do I separate the text from image? Having some difficulty.

I think it is just that you have it as
"great Canadian nation *image*"

In stead of,
"great Canadian nation
*image*"

If that doesn't work slap a < br > after "great Canadian nation" without the spaces.

Just catching that post now, worked fine. Thank you.

But yet again, I am back to be a pain in the ass.

blog.abovetopsecret.com...

You can see up the top where it says chissler's corner in simple text. Am I capable of removing that and entering a title in the graphic itself? I've searched the styles-site.css and can not find it anywhere.

Am I looking in the wrong spot? Missing it? Can not be done?

For that I think you need to go into the Main.index.

I've searched it before, with no luck. But I'll go through all of the templates and see what I can come up with.

Ed: I've just searched all the templates and no luck.

I'll take a look at mine. I know I removed my text and replaced it with an image.

Needless to say, I appreciate the help.

It's beyond frustrating trying to learn something new. I sat here for a few hours yesterday trying to get the hang of it, and I'm starting to get into the swing of it. Kicking my ass for not doing this months ago when I first purchased the blog.

It shouldn't be to far under this
< !-- DO NOT REMOVE : END ABOVETOPSECRET.COM BLOG HEADER CODE -- >

and could be right under this
< h1 id="banner-header" >

But mine is heavily edited so I'm not sure exactly where you would find where that text shows up.

Right on! I found the section, few trial and errors, but success!

Thanks Umbrax!

You've been a lot of help here.

I'm being a pain in the ass, I know, but I have another question. (Actually 2)

I've been able to remove the chissler's corner text from my banner on the home page, but when I click on any other it comes back. Where would I look to remove it from the other pages? I've searched through a few, but I thought it would be better to ask than make a mistake. I have it backed up, but trial and error can only go so far.

My other question is, can I change the title that appears on the task bar?

You would have to change your Weblog Name in your settings.
I don't know about the other thing.

Right here in the templates:
< title >< $MTBlogName encode_html="1"$ >< / title >

Change it like this:
< title >Whatever Title you want the Page Tab to Have< / title >
NOTE: I added spaces inbetween all the hash marks and such here so that you could see it. Take out those spaces

As for the H1 appearing on sub-pages, that's becuase you havn't changed the templates under the "Archives" tab in your template section. There are 3 more there.

Category Archive
Date-Based Archive
Individual Entry Archive

Also check your Master Archive Index template. Do all of them the same as you did your Index one.
