On a more local level:

Police behaving more like gestappos on witch hunts, rather than the older version of those whom one could call on when in need of help, and the police were there to "sever and protect". Not anymore, now they literally have orders to "shoot to kill".

Also, digital ID cards. Almost every state now, I believe have switched from the reglar (what not too long ago was pretty standard) Drivers Licenses and State ID cards to ones that contain your fingerprint, digitalized photograph, including a "ghost picture", that I don't now if it's activated yet in any states, but is there, ready to be used for face recognition purposes when that thechnology proves to have the bugs worked out of it.

I figure that just about the time that all the states have changed over to digital on the ID's, the National ID cards will come along, taking away a good portion of each State's Sovereignty.

Of course, all of the above digitalized ID cards contain more personal information about us than what ID used to. One more bit of our privacy that we are being forced to give up if we want to drive, cash checks, open bank accounts, or just about any other type of account, etc...

And what makes me sick, is that the public is told that we are 'safer' this way. We need to make our borders more secure. Identity Theft is on the rise, etc.... So the people (unfortunately the majority of them) just seem to think Oh Gosh! The Government thinks we are in danger. We had better do what they 'suggest' in order to be safer from...............who? what?......oh well,.

Than of course, there's always the threat of the dreaded avain flu. It could become a real threat at any time, and when the government decides that it is time to start quarantining us, Bush has made it very clear that it will be the Military who will be in charge of that......

I didn't start this thread, but it is very relevent to the times we are currently living in. I hope that some others will add their voices to this thread, then maybe move one step further, and do whatever it takes to take back our privacy, our human and civil rights, our country!

I didn't see listed the disarming of U.S. citizens which is one of the biggest signs, IMO.

I see it as what the name of the site is propoganda. There are legal experts who study bills such as the Patriot Act to determine what needs to be changed to be in line with the constitution. And it passed in congress with a 2/3rds vote. The internet clampdown? Sites like rense, infowars and other Alex Jones affiliate sites would be the first to go. Sites that speak against the government would be non existent. We dont know anything about these camps to come to a conclusion. For all we know they are for housing disaster victims. Touch screen voting machines, technology marches on. Ask constitutional experts about the legality of wiretapping, just cause you dont like it, dont make it illegal. Free speech zones, yes ridiculous, but I think that was more to prevent any nuts from disturbing the events, yall know what I mean. Dont know much about the last 2 but I'll look into it.

I agree with what someone said earlier, that the biggest one would be the taking of guns from law abiding citizens.
Wiretaps are Legal

I agree it was a glaring omission to leave out such a important part. Look at the problems the US is having with a armed population in Iraq a fraction of the size of the US.

With some 90 million gun owners and 250 million + guns in the United states they dont have close to enough man power to control that large of a armed population. I would be a nightmare for a force many times larger then the US military.

It all seems like just a summation of the obvious to me, despite what any of the Fox viewers might think. The internet restrictions are quite a threat to the dissemination of information to counter the propaganda effect of the mainstream news services.

Anyway I agree with a few of the above posters. The moment GWB wants a new weapons gun ban is the day I will feel as the 1st step to a police state has taken place

I usually clip a post as to what was most relevant, but this one needed the whole thing repeated. I am not going to pick it part line by line for the entire thing left me with my mouth hanging open for the longest time. I used to wonder how people let a police state come into being, because unless you use force there is a lot of preperation that towards the end of losing everything that made you the nation you once were, it would be obvious and I thought Americans would stop it from happening.

No way.

I am pretty sure the majority will not react until the very last item is in place, freedom of speech. I dont think the governement will have to change that one anyway, it is being done by the public through polital correcness, and the threat of social embarresment. What is really weird is its not just stupid people that are doing this, Look at LudaChris he writes, spells, structures sentances correctly. Seems pretty smart. Still cannot see the police state that we are heading towards faster everyday. The police state will be allowed to happen, for our own good.

Its like the liberals have taken over the conservatives and no one notices. Like invasion of the body snatchers.

We are living in interesting times indeed.

Why do people realize the gun ban isnt as big a deal as the fact that this is an all volunteer police state?!?

I dont think they will even need a gun ban, heck most of the people will be turning dissenters into the government anyway. We hav been set up by some of the best strategists whomever lived. It goes back so long and I never even knew it.

Hell the OKC bombing will ensure know one will use guns to stop the police state. You dont need gun-ban when all the peeps will be ready for someone tht could be a "domestic terrorist".

Why cant people read the writing on the wall anymore?

If the majority of people in a democratic state want a police state (or so it would seem using your logic, please correct me if I am wrong) what is the point of "fighting" it or going against it in anyway? Wouldn't that mean, in our society of majority rule, the majority has spoken and the minority are crap out of luck?

Not exactly. I have thought about that before. If it is being done slyly and really without the public getting any of the true facts, and being made to believe what they are told, then are they really choosing? I personally, don't think so, and hey I guess if I end up in the minority, I will at least know who my friends really are at that point.
Well, put question though. I almost think you should maybe start a discussion thread about that if you wanted to.

Such is the problem with democracy, brainwash enough people with the boob-tube and look what you could end up with!

Here is one for you: You and I are at lunch, I announce to the patrons "lets have a vote, I say Jack Bauer buys everyones lunch today, lets see some hands!"

Of course the majority are going to vote that you pay for everyones lunch.

Not a fair proposition, and niether is giving up MY freedom so YOU can feel safe. You want to feel safe? Stop driving a car. You could have a 9/11 every month and it would still not equal auto fatalities in the USA.

Just because the majority says it is right, does not make it so.

Thanks LG - for a long time it didn't seem possible that Americans would make these arguments, especially the 9/11/auto fatalities one. Reason is starting to prevail.

When the IRA were bombing the UK, we all knew how statistically unlikely we were to be caught up in an incident. No-one panicked, or suggested we bomb the US who were funding them.

And of course we can't forget the massive amount of public paranoia and herd mentality of ill-informed "resistant to change" types that culminates in various protests and minor-revolutions - thus making the theoretical, inevitable.

The only people they pull over are people who listen to music loudly(like i do) and stuff like that. I have seen a slight increase in patrols though. But it would be cool to make an underground resistance movement against the police state if it ever happens. The mountains here are rough and steep, we could hide in the caves and raid them
Long Live Freedom !!

Nearby on the Mall, U.S. Park Police and Capitol Police ordered people to flee. "Do not stop," officers yelled. "Keep moving."

"Ladies and gentlemen, let's move like our lives depend on it. I mean it!" a D.C. police officer screamed."

Wow, police thats serves the govt. only and they scream to the point that shows how they care about the American people. Shouldnt they be like allowing people to die, instead of telling Americans to run for their lives?
