There are several reports on this story this afternoon but all of them still dont know what the range on this missile was that was tested this morning some articals are saying 70 miles others are saying they dont know. I belive that if N. Korea did lauch a missle of ICBM capabilty we will be seeing some other tests take place in other nations sometime tommarrow or over the next few days.

Here is one of the articals.

Blah, North Korea doesn't have the balls to test fire an ICBM. If they did, they would have done it by now. The only reason why they test fired a ANTI SHIP missile was to get attention from the Summit that is taking place in Asia right now. Like I've said before, NK bluffs too damn much, and are just a bunch of talkers who don't do #.

well, then what type of missile was it then that NK fired over Japan in 1998? - not exactly an anti-ship missile, was it?

I have spoken to people. NK is something to be worried about. Things are being done to thwart a war, but, they are a threat. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a sheep.

If Iraq was the walk in the park, what will NK be? Big Trouble.

Bush keeps saying diplomacy will work, but keeps saying " no " to NK. The world is in a huge state of manipulation. Everyone is making everyone else think something else.

This will go on for a little longer I suspect, until North Korea tests one of their a-bombs.

As scary as an a-bomb is, I'd be a lot more worried if they had h-bombs.

Damn straight...

The NKs have test fired #3 missiles at and one over Japan the NK TEPPO-Don And NO-Don missiles all of which dropped into the sea.
And I guess this is a new test.
I think the Japanese have every right to be crappin themselves about NK what with the kiddnappings, missile tests, constant threats, illeagle raids into Japanese Sea(Japanese coast guard drilled and sunk a spy boat).
If the US had even 1 US citizen kiddnapped there would have been a sh1tstorm.

I think NK is very dangerous..
I see tonight on the news that the US will be looking at signing a treaty if the NKs agree to destroy all their Nuclear weapons.....

And they believe he will....now that is scary.....

I could take a large estes G motor, stuff some depleted uranium and some dirty socks in a papertowl tube, color it black to make it scary looking, and threaten that I have a nuclear missile! Launching a missile into the air is one thing...

Launching a intercontinental ballistic missile with a nuclear device that travels thousands of miles by complicated computer guidance to a specific spot is another. Look at their missile development in general... they don't even have any modern SAM weapons except for old cold war era shoulder mounted launchers which they didn't even make.

I bet they don't even the technology to make my sock rocket

You'd be surprised at just how simply they are for a nation with heavy industry such as North Korea. All the guidance is done by gyroscopes which are relatively easy to manufacture and set correctly, then you have the rocket itself, which isnt all that hard if you have amateur teams all over the world capable of building small two stage rockets.

Its really not that hard to do...the warheads are the hard things to obtain/manufacture.

I agree korea has most of it's time in history been
underestimated by their enemies. They were even considered too passive or scholarly to mount an effective resistance back in the past. Yet, the koreans have in the end came out victoriously most of the time. They had to fight hard because the peninsula was or still is an important strategic location between two powerful nations Japan and China. Had they been more expansionist they would have would have been a force to wreckon with. This is what worries me because korea historically has given very little threats to their neighboring countries before but now it is common for them to say "We are going to turn Seoul and Tokyo into a sea of fire" and many other threats and that isn't normal for the them who used to live in fear of China and Japan for centuries. South Koreans are also being more aggressive, it wasn't too long ago before colonization that martial arts and military life were considered to be practiced by "barbarians" and now tae kwon do is very popular in the country and there is a saying "If you don't enter the military then you should get a castration" (no joke) this saying still exist even today when most s.k. soldiers are conscripts. The militarization of korea would make it much harder for us to defeat n.korea especially now that they are not so "passive" anymore.

The gyroscopes they will be using will probably be good for hitting a continent, not a specific point. They'd have to get pretty lucky hit hit a major city. Unless of course they bought technology... otherwise they are bluffing big time. I'm sure our government knows wether or not it has these weapons, we are just peasants and know nothing

If (and it's a big IF in my book) necessity and war are the mother of invention, and North Korea are a nation constantly geared for war, their technical expertise should not be dismissed out of hand. In the Second World War Japan managed to get parachute bombs into the U.S using nothing but the Earth's jet stream. Admittedly, they were pish and did nothing more than bruise a couple of badgers, but there you go. Just because you don't know of a thing does not mean it doesn't exist; Underestimating an enemy is the biggest mistake you can make.

Like I've said before tho, North Korea ain't gonna do # because that crazy Kim guy knows that if North Korea does something THAT stupid as to test a nuclear missile, then many more countries will get involved in trying to stop the production of the weapon.

Plus, how many times have North Korea said they were going to use a nuke and show their nukes and launch nukes and all kinds of #? They bluff too damn much. ATS should have a North Korea Bluff Meter that counts how many times they bluff.
