Robert De Niro has prostate cancer!

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Actor Robert De Niro has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, his spokesman said Monday.

De Niro's cancer was "detected at an early stage" due to regular check-ups, and doctors "project a full recovery," said spokesman Stan Rosenfield in a statement.

The statement did not disclose what sort of treatment De Niro was undergoing for his cancer.

De Niro, 60, one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation, has appeared in more than 60 movies in a career stretching back 40 years. He has been nominated for six Oscars, winning as best actor in 1980 for "Raging Bull" and as best supporting actor in 1974 for "The Godfather, Part II."

Bah! DeNiro is type casted, he is either a mobster or psycho in his films. He plays the same things. He has no real depth. Not a great actor IMO.

What the # are you on about? Have you not seen The King of Comedy, Midnight Run, Mad Dog and Glory, New York New York, The Deer Hunter, Brazil, Angel Heart, The Mission, Awakenings, A Bronx Tale, Cop Land, Wag the Dog...?
How dare you call him type-cast you ignorant twat. You've really wound me up, he doesn't play a #ing gangster in any of these and The King of Comedy and Midnight Run are two of my all time favourite comedies.

It pisses me off when people make stupid, ignorant comments like that.

Anyone who hasn't seen Wag the Dog should, it's a good study of how the government uses the media.

I am gutted to hear this news, I only hope they've caught it early enough to treat it. Get well Bob.

DeNiro is a god among actors!

De Niro is one of the greatest actor of this century.

Cearball, you're definitly too young and don't know what you're talking about. But De Niro is GREAT when playing mobster, that's a well know fact.
