First off, I have no idea where this belongs so if it is better suited some place else, I would appreciate if a mod could move it for me.

A shortlist of possible sites for 17 new casinos, including Britain's first "super casino", is due to be announced.
More than 60 local authorities will hear whether they have reached the next stage of the bid for casino licences.

Blackpool, the Millennium Dome, in London, and Glasgow are among possible locations for the super casino, which would have unlimited jackpots.

Social and regeneration impacts will be considered by the Casino Advisory Panel set up by the government.

I don't know about you buy I definately don't want any "super casino" to be built. Gambling is very addictive and it's going to ruin alot of people if this goes ahead, which it most probably will.

One of the locations for this "super casino" is the Millennium Dome; I hope it does get built there because maybe it will follow in the Dome's footsteps and become a complete waste of money, which will then result in it being closed down. Mind you, that's only if the English population have the brains not to go there.

The government originally suggested there should be
eight super casinos, but after widespread opposition and claims they would lead to a big increase in gambling addiction, the plans were scaled down to just one.

Eight money sucking facilities is an awful lot; maybe the government need more funding? I'm glad there are some sensible people out there who opposed the plans.

EDIT: I should go back to school and learn how to spell!

I remember a few years ago when this idea was being floated around, i was holidaying in Blackpool (don't ask me why) and a local businessman said they were proposing putting jettys alomng the beachfront for the super rich to park thier yachts in when they come to the casinos.

Hmmmm, if i was super rich enough to have my own yacht and travel the world gambling, what a decision to make, Monte Carlo? Sun City? The Caribbean? Maybe Las Vegas? Nah, actualy why don't we park our yacht in the brown water of Blackpool and spend the week eating nothing but grease on the seafront whilst wearing "kiss me quick" hats and trying not to get mugged on the piers!

Sorry but i think all casinos in these places will do is attract people that are already in enough debt but want to have a bit of a flutter with a few quid. Thus making the nations personal debt problem even worse.

Im telling you now if there is a super casino in Glasgow it will do well. Not that it will do us any good. End up spending your whole wages on the damn things. but this is gonna start a new wave of gamblers and increase the countries debt by a big majority.
