I work at a hotel about four miles out of town, I have been working here almost three years and have to spend alot of time outside throughout the night. In the last six months between 2:45 and 4:00 there is alot of low level aircraft passing over the hotel. I am used to commuter planes because not only can you hear them but if it is a clear night you can see the marker lights.
At first I didnt think anything of it but a friend of mine who works at another hotel across the lake and has lived in the area longer then me said he has never heard that many aircraft passing over this area.
By the way I live in central Wisconsin and I dont think there are any Airforce bases in this area.

I am just looking for some insight on this or if anyone might know whats going on.

interesting but how low they are flying? any approximation. Or does the noise sounds familiar?

It almost sounds like the jets coming into land at the EAA air show in Oshkosh. So I would say maybe 200 feet.

Dam that must be annoying i used to live near an airport and during an airshow its like we need to get away its making soo much noise, hopefuly it was one every 2 years but im intrigue about the purpose of flying at the same time by nite.

Maybe you could hint the local media about it, if it makes alot of noise for ppl around to complain.

I have had guest call down complaining about the noise, and asking me if there is anything I can do about it. I think I will we have acouple of local papers in this area. Thanks for the advice.

I bet the didnt give a dam.
I dont know realy, all i can say is if theres a residential area near they should have already complain about it, god i hated when they were warming up the engine early in the morning or the weird siren or gunshot sound to scare the birds.

Whats your theory on this late late nite flying? ever got a close shot of those things?

I was thinking it was maybe some type of low alt training, but then again I dont think there are any AF bases in this area. The problem I have is that the grounds are lit up with all kinds of lamp posts and path lighting that there is only a few places you can see the stars at night. As much as I would love to sit in a dark corner of property with a couple cameras and a vid camera my bosses would have my hide

After awhile you get used to the guests blaming you for things you have no control over.

If it look military i say dont mess with them, leave the dirty work to som1 else (media lol).

They are probly flying over forest or you mention a lake , so you could give a look at it during day but once again im not recomending you to do so. If you are very curious you can try to determine the perimeter they are flying over and look if you see nothing unfamiliar on the ground.

At school there are always low flying C-130's passing over, as well as attack helos on combat manuevers. Might be it, but who knows.
