I'm curious to know what kind of string they use to tie the bamboo twigs together. And someone stated the prefer bamboo over steel?? God Bless America.

It never ceases to amaze me how some posters take every opportunity to either, directly or indirectly infer, proudly how the US has a far superior fighting machine than any other country, yet they never seem to boast about the US's diplomatic capabilities.

I can only assume these are the same individuals that have used there newly found manhood as a battering ram as opposed to engaging their grey matter first.

its true that the PLAN is planning to build a 20,000t class Amphibious assault ship(model shown below) for quote "future landing operation"(cough TAIWAN) 2010-15 est.

but see no example of it shown, so have no idea what the heck is under construction to the right

even more confusing is the ship shown to the left #941

PLANEMAN mentioned that it was(or might be?) a TYPE-072 III(YUTING II class)

to be honest not sure that it is

the TYPE-072 III class vessel(shown below)
has a large flight deck at its stern(ships rear), large enough to support a Z-8A(PLA version of the FRENCH SA 321(SUPER FRELON) helicopter and has a haul large enough to carry 250 PLAN troops and 10 tanks

the PLAN is said to have 7 such examples

both the 1st photo and the external image given by WARSET lack a flight deck
which leads me to believe that the ship(#941) on the left is not a YUTING II class and has yet been classified. The only example that it might be is actually a TYPE-073 III(YUDENG class) but that is my speculation(hard to say base on photo)

by decades end the PLAN would have(if not already) a "GREEN WATER" capability good enough to stage an "amphibious assault"

It really looks like the front and back of the same boat next to each other in the photos on page 1. I can't see anything different.

They better have 20,000 craft, because 10,000 will be blown out of the water in any Taiwan invasion.

Dont concern yourself with our military capabilities. Many Americans are deceived about this. Our problem all across the board has always been leadership.
As Americans we are way to dumb to afford really good quality personel in government..any branch ..state local and federal. The best people usually go to private industry ..private buisness...leaving the rest to serve in government.

This means we dont always have the best people in the Military or our Civilian Government. So leadership here becomes a problem. This is known information ..it is just not known among most of the civilian populace since they are mostly educated in public school paid for and financed by government. We know that government does not traditionally hang out the truth about thier dirty laundry. That is......those of us that can think outside of the normal settings. Government hides or covers their dirty laundry so as not to upset their power structure on which they are so dependent.

As to our diplomatic corps..they too suffer from the same stigma. They also have the additional problem of heavy politics. They suffer so much from politics...translate that econommics...that they must hide the truth from the public. Often working against the will of the people and twords the direction of thier controllers. Just like most government. Politics means economics..not necessarily the will of the public they claim to serve. Most Americans educated in public schools do not think of conditions in this manner but continue on in the same standard party line. OUr State Department often has operated completely independent of the rest of our government ...including the Oval office. This is the reason Condaliza Rice has been sent over in place of Colin Powell to help tone down their independent tendencys. This is also the reason this four star general has been sent over to the CIA. The CIA is the military arm of the State Department..often operating independently of the oval office and instructions.
The State Department and CIA have for years been at odds with the Executive Office (unless they can get their home boy elected to office) and the Defence Department but been able to hide this from most of the public. Today the veil is coming down.

This is the main problem with our diplomatic corps as well as the other branchs of our government..this is not a new phenomonon. It goes back over a hundred years. Only our economic affluence has allowed us as a nation and a people to survive such bumbling in all our various departments of government as they seek to cut out ..each a soverign fiefdom for thier various branchs. Totally against the charter under which they are charged.
