I listen to IT, he's ill, and a VERY dope freestyler when he comes off the top. His ideas are pretty anti-government, but he does drop stuff that makes you think if you sreiously listen to it in depth. Reminds me of Canibus, only a lot more pissed off. Where's the post above though?

lol im listening to immortal technique as im posting this reply... thats pretty cool man... when did u discover IT? have you also listened to Jedi Mind Tricks?

very interesting at what they have to say... they do have many subliminal messages in their raps... if you can understand what they are talking about you will notice that they are telling the truth about whats going on... they speak knowledge! immortal technique is one of my favorite artists...

what other artists do u like?

I really hate most rap and hip-hop music, but I do support Immortal Technique. He really does have a message and point to get across rather than talking about nonsense. His song called Freedom Of Speech is brilliant! Hopefully the CIA wont take him out if he gets really popular and starts getting international attention.....

Immortal did a track with JMT i forget where it's at though, and if you like IT and JMT, check out Outerspace. There's a lot of mc's speaking truth on mics but it usually gets buried under the Rap-ublican "rims for my range, flooded fat chains, grip me the 9, cause i'ma git mine". That eMpTyV crap is where the real brainwashing is, bob your head and affirm what the fake gangsta on the tv tells you, lil kid. That's just mass consumption crap to flood the marketplace and make fat old white guys in big buildings richer.

Especially to the people who don't like rap, i don't either, if it's what's defined by the media. You really have to dig deep now to find people speaking the real. If you hate rap because of what you se on tv, check out some of the underground stuff, you'll be surprised at how different it is from shallow, violent, and disrepectful mainstream "gangsta" rap. You'll also be surprised at how much real talent there is when the goal is not to do what works, rap about guns, cash, and being a fake thug, but to rap because you have soemthing important to say.

If you're not easily offended, check out Dead Prez, especially a track called Propaganda.

Also, if you can, find the interview poet Saul Williams gives on the Wake Up Show, i think it's volume 8, but it sums up the state of affairs pretty well as to how all these "gangstas" are working for the man. If everyone knows ya, you rock more ice than the north pole, and roll in a ridiculously shiny ride, you're not a gangster, you're just the top consumer, and incredibly ingnorant.

funny thing is that i have already listened to outerspace and dead prez and many other underground artists. underground music is my favorite. like you have said rap nowadays is just about the same thing over and over. they don't really rap about anything other then money and ho's and what you can do with money. have you listened to the angels of death? im trying to think of more artists that i listen to but its kinda hard when i havnt been downloading any new music. thats pretty much the only way to find underground music. i also like del tha funkeee homosapien and aceyalone.. but they arent really into speaking truths but i like their style.

what's your fav. IT song? i myself think either Freedom Of Speech, Leaving The Past, Point Of No Return, or The 4th Branch. actually...i like any of his songs...when hes not being hardcore lol... cuz i dont like when he talks bout dead babies and stuff like that ya know? heh...

Probably point of no return, or creation & destruction. Del is ill also, i've been listening to del since around '91. I've got a ridiculous library of oldskool, classic, and non-mainstream hip hop. I'm pretty into Wu-tang, and a lot of the Wu family, mostly cause i grew up with it, and although they conquered the industry back in the mid 90's they still didn't go commercial.

Some of my current favorites aside from what we've already discussed are Canibus, Last Emperor, KRS-ONE, EPMD, Blackalicious, Ozomatli, Eric B & Rakim, and Killarmy.

I'm into a pretty broad range of styles though, and i' m always looking for stuff i haven't heard. Listening to diffrent styles, regardless of the message helps expand the mind vocabulary-wise, and taht helps when you're on the mic droppin a track or battling down in the park. Me and my friend work together, and we battle all night at work.

Apparently the mods don't like Immortal Technique. That's alright, If I were a Mod and someone posted Barry Manilow, I may have to snip that myself (j/k). To each his own.

*raises hand up*

Aesop Rock (that man can be intense eh), IM, Abstract Rude & Tribe Unique, Artifacts, Dilated Peoples...

Dilated Peoples, love em. Global dynamic is a tune that has some interesting lyrics, Ill post a chunk... I looked in a few places to get better lyrics but alas no. All sites had at least a bit wrong, they say "rough child" instead of Rothschild

Yeah...
No I won't call you master
Though to you I sold my
My microphone shines
I keep your children filled in
Colorful swirls are building
But not getting caught in a kind of killing
See paranoia will destroy ya
And I got a lot, maybe too much for ya
My veins are swelling, stress wracks my brain
The point where my head and neck connects is in flames
We've come a long way since the first mainframe
And there's more going on than computer games
We got inter-net, world wide web sites
Which you might get caught in if you don't keep your head right
Organize and educate the youth
But most would pass up revolution to loot
Won't fight for your rights but you'll die to look cute
Most would pass up revolution to loot

Ay yo it goes without saying whose delivery is nicest
So I'll say lady liberty represents Isis
Execs don't think midas will touch science
(well fool?)
My mind got me on the verge of violence
Or stopping this whole rap wrote in silence
But going against the negative grain is my defiance
The enlightened titan might win
I'll see the symbols at libraries and schools
Lodges, churches and temples
It be fighting for peace
Got me mad enough to shoot
But most would pass up revolution to loot
Won't fight for your rights but you'll die to look cute
Most would pass up revolution to loot

Ay yo times are critical, the screen reads unstable
My peeps are like 'release steam!' but I seem unable
I trip on microchips and ponder transponders
and feel the radio waves and satellites upon us
Zoom on the earth, zoom on California
Zoom on Los Angeles, zoom on me warning ya
If they shoot a slug and strike me like a baddamyst ?
Understand that government and industry's the catalyst
A battle was lost but quiet war still wages
Police engage us, like potential bigamists
Page is the limitless ?, cages for sentences
Till this anti-material particle finishes
With this unworkable body, oh lord
Rough child [Rothschild] ? figured how to get the rich and poor
Extra promisory notes still but they can't afford
Then collect on collateral, financed your war
Feeling like the last poets --
"This is madness!"
Breaking down the me machine (?) related to a blackest
All ?, despite this movie liz-biz
Think for a minute kids, you know where Egypt is

--------------------------
Ive not posted all of it but you get the gist, another song (still Dilated Peoples) to check the lyrics is Big Business, a small bit...

Here's a spark encoded in rhyme and love for everyone of the devoted in line:
We call it art, some call it a crime
it's the rap Michael Moore, like Bowling for Columbine
on drums, Fahrenheit, 9-1-1
Al Queda hit the Apple and the world was stunned
the villain trained by the hero for the killing
now you twist $20 bills to see buildings
Under heavy surveillance
they might call you a traitor if you want something greater

I got my password changeform emailed, now it's the same as my ATS one. So I'm OK.

Well this music is not really my type, I do like the subject matter. I'll give it another shot though as sometimes music grows on one.

But I find my music taste, which is primarily extra heavy metal has been already covering that subject matter for years, makes for powerful music.
