Check it out under 1997 April 24th

1997 March 24 - Media Day prior to 4 rockets launches to look at Comet Hale-Bopp

March 24 - April 7 - Public invited to watch the 4 launches from the parade field

April 24 - International Astonomers Union happens to visit Trinity Site on day UFOs are predicted to land

Does the webmaster on the site have a funny sense of humour, or what?

He or she just has a good sense of humor.

Also from the timeline:

My favorite:

10,000 BC Lake Otero open for water skiing

From 1947:

July 2 - Secret Air Force balloon crashes near Roswell, N.M. -- mistaken for UFO

Thought 1997 was at the height or on the down slope of a big UFO fervor I can't recall but perhaps someone who got press was making predictions that ufos would land at the base.
