Cures are not money makers. Treatments are. Do I think they have a cure for AIDS? Yes. Cancer? Yes. Many other diseases? Yes. So why would they not release them? Simple, the mighty dollar. How much money would a drug company that makes pills for those who have aids lose if they instead offered a one time fix? Just some food for thought.

I'm 21 years old and my Grandfather, a 60+ year old man of average intelligence, has been telling me this nearly my whole life. Guess what? This IS common knowledge and has been for decades now. What on Earth possessed you to post this? Did you not see the sheer magnitude of this site? Did you really think you'd be the first person mention this? These type of cliche posts just lead to more cliche posts (i.e. the one I'm making now!
).

AIDS is just a syndrome, so you can't have a "cure" for it. I presume you are talking about HIV, which does not have a cure.

What makes you say we have a cure for HIV and not other viruses such as the common cold or the flu?

You are right in the sense that drug companies are less interested in developing a vaccine for HIV, as it is a very high risk venture (quite easy to go down the wrong road of development) and might not make them that much profit. However there is millions of dollars being spent in the public and charity sectors on developing one, though they are at least a decade from producing anything. There is no where near enough money going into this - so I would suggest you join a pressure group campaigning for more resources to be put into it.
