Firstly, no top secret stamp, no legal ramifications (for you codename at least).

Secondly, IF this is accurate (not hoaxed data) then it is clearly an extreme leak, no one is denying the possibility if nothing else.

Thirdly, can someone with the proper extensive knowledge on such matters please clarify whether there is some kind of loophole/bylaw omitting ownership etc on discarded data in the freedom of information act or "X" act.

(obviously if it a hoax we're as usual wasting our time) either it is accurate, otherwise whoever created this data obviously went to a lot of trouble, or perhaps had the fortune of having a wind tunnel at their disposal etc.

Lastly, if your government wanted these documents confiscated, chances are they would already be confiscated. Largest government conspiracy internet site available? I would eat my hat if you can show me 100% it isnt under constant surviellance....incase someone somewhere gets something right.

Just post everything at your disposal onto here, make copies and hide them under floorboards or in a safety diposit box, and lol....er lock your doors

Quote by Byrd

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that the guy you bought the laptop fom was running UFO hoaxes from his machine. And that he's perpetrated other hoaxes like this, and that the data on his machine is pure garbage; pure disinformation.

lol i actually missed that, i was going to say the same thing. The previous owner probably placed this data there, knowing that many people, as its only human nature we cant help but be curious, check to see if the previous owner has left anything behind.

While i dont have Byrds connections to secure organizations within Boeing to compare headers...

I did witness many IT wizards totally fooled/misdirected by the slurpo hoax, so anything is possible.
and even wizards dont know all, obviously

I will say, and continue to say...
if you have more pics, post them...
we will be enlightened, or have a fun little debate to see what Sci fi program they originally aired in...

Sometimes i find the extent of Byrd's wisdom unnerving.......

Don't go all shy Codename....regardless of whether its a hoax or not (and i love watching a hoax be debunked) pics pics pics!!! now now now!!!!

There are also photos of the CETI-CV4 on here. I would assume these would all be considered top secret.

If it isn't stamped 'top secret' or anything like that, then you can do whatever you want with it.

Should I hire a lawyer?

Why?

You legally bought the object. It didn't come with any contracts that you signed agreeing not to release the information, and it doesn't say on the photos or documents not to release it.

In order for something to not be distributed, it has to clearly say 'do not distribute' in one way or another.

Hell, I don't even think that a citizen is bound by law not to release something simply because it says 'secret' on it, short of having stolen it perhaps.

And he sold you hs work laptop????

There are pictures on the hard drive

Where are these pictures?

There are also photos and other documents of something called "CETI-CV5", an unmanned craft that is designed to fly in a completely different atmosphere than we have here on Earth. CETI-CV5 stands for "Confirmed ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence - Contact Vehicle"

Please post the documents explaining this.

files.abovetopsecret.com...

Thats how the pic was on the computer, a jpeg file just sitting there? What directory was it in? What 'information resortation' system can recover a perfect jpeg from a wiped harddrive??

Here is an email that I cut and pasted:

Where are the addresses and IPs????

I will post more when I get home, I am at work right now

How'd you get the files to work?

byrd
header munging

Great job byrd!

Anyway, I'd be curious to see the stuff requested above anyhow.

I was wondering what the legal ramifications for releasing this material would be, and what outlets I could go about releasing this information anonymously. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Even if it is stolen, it's still buyer beware.

I cannot imagine a legit Boeing employee not erasing the computer completely clean.

I am of the opinion that if you cannot backup these claims, this is some sort of hoax.
IF you cannot or will not post the images, you could u2u them to me or a mod listed on this page at the top.
Otherwise, I can assume this is is fiction and will take appropriate action not limited to cloing the thread.

Then again, to be unbiased not every employee, even the engineers and such arent obviously required to be trained as though they were ICT technicians, thats what Boeing employs the ICT technicians for.

Ok ive now looked at pretty much every googled imaged of wind tunnels, boeing, secret aircraft, and subsequent variations on the search criteria. *eyes bulge*

Not a single scent of any of those pictures. So theyre either real, hoaxed and kept off the internet until now, or im actually missing something.

I did find this though on Boeing's latest secret project. Its quite amusing
.

Actually, it IS a little bit more of an interstellar probe. It's a Mars probe. Maybe not interstellar, but interplanetary, at least. So there.

Mars ARES Probe

With the hostility that was shown to this dude, who as far as we know (as Byrd pointed out) could have bought this laptop from someone intent on disinforming people, I am surprised that anyone would come to this forum with any possibly legit information without wondering if they're going to be blown out the water.

Asking questions is one thing, but until Byrd posted the info on the email (which I so should have caught)
, none of us had any proof to debunk this. Better try next time though Codename, and I am interested in seeing the photos still for at least a bit of fun, and like others said, to see if we can ID what shows they came from!

Byrd, great catch, I still feel like an idiot for not looking at that better!

Now theres a novel idea.............you leaving ATS. Dont let the door hit you where the gods split you.
You are quite rude and combative and arrogant in your posts. Instead of trying to be somewhat civilized and do what others like Nygdan and Byrd did, which is give specific points and arguements WHY this post was bs, you simply run your mouth like some juvenile on ritalin repeating a bunch of drivel over and over without coming up with your own specific reasons to refute this persons arguements. Your responses are akin to a child plugging their ears and screaming nah ha nah nah anha liar liar blah blah blah. Pretty irritating. If you are gonna attack a hoax, do it with some semblence of intelligent discussion and list specific factors WHY.

Just how old are you anyway?

Anyway, i saw this thread lingering so i thought id check it out, and Nygdan has brought up some interesting points which I think would be worth answering.

A hoax has probably been perpetrated here, though by whom is the question. codename could very well be an innocent victim of some hoaxer who deliberately put this info on an old laptop he was selling to see if any larger reaction would surface. Or codename could be a hoaxer himself. We shall see.

Byrd made good points, and from my own experience, sensitive equipment is tracked and monitored with an eagle eye. It is unlikely that a computer used in any sort of sensitive government work or contractors would ever make it outside a controlled facility. All sensitive documents and equipment are checked out, and if not checked back in by a certain time, all hell breaks loose. Serial numbers and such are distributed through law enforcement to locate the item if it ever surfaces in the market. It is unlikely you would have purchased this computer from anyone, especially on the web, if it indeed held classified information, or was used in classified work. Every federal agency would be tracking this thing.

And even before that, its highly unlikely that a device with such classified information would have left the facility without built in safeguards on it. Did the laptop just look like an ordinary laptop, with no add ons or devices on it? if so, its unlikely it was used in classified work, and is a normal laptop.

I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are telling the truth as you know it, until information surfaces to prove otherwise.

I guess that's the acid test, then, huh? Somebody with legitimate information WOULDN'T get blown out of the water.

Anyway, after nearly 40 years of interest in UFOs and space and other similar stuff, I prefer to take the harsh skeptical approach first, since it saves so much time when the information is later proven to be junk.
