Is this the real life, is this just fantasy caught in a landslide

i have a friend he's confused about life and wether or not anyone or anything is real this is a copy of the email he sent me

It feels like hardly any is real or its all just one big tv show on me and everyone is pretendin to be my freinds and all the stuff thats happend in my life is just fake, or im imaginin people and the people who help me is just my mind makin people so i can get happy and feel good again.

i was wondering if there are more people out there that can help with this he feels alone and i know he's not can you help with this thanks very much

Maybe hes just at a time in his life where he is finding out who he is...
This can be a scarey time for some, and be confusing
Ask him what he wants out of life, and where he see's his future,

Or maybe hes been watching the Truman show a little to much!! lol
but honest just talk to him about life

he sounds depersonalized. he should get out more and do many things.

Is he about 16-18 and just started college? I've seen a lot of people who go through that when they finally get into a wider world situation with lots of new people. It's a transition period, like Asala said and he's probably right about his friends, that's the kinda thing you discover when you get to that stage. If he's not 16-18 or starting college or moved away then I'm just talking balls.

point him to the thread asking if smoking pot is bad for you and remind him that yes it is and too much of it makes you look deep inside ur naval and contemplat pointless zen metaphysical new age questions like this one

Your friend is simply having an attack of solipsism, which is understandable in a dehumanizing world.

As long as he has a reasonably healthy self esteem, he is going to come out of this view much better than a hardened cynic ever does.

I get periods of feeling like this about 3 times a year for a while . I never really know what brings it on.

I used to get this along time ago when I was about 12/13 years old, whilst hitting puberty. I remember being seriously depressed, and it feeling like I was living in a dream, for about three months. Eventually the feeling just faded away.

I am convinced now that it was just part of puberty, with all those chemicals and hormones floating around. I believe its the body's way of developing identity. Even if I cannot provide any scientific proof for my conclusion.

If this is the case then nothing can be done, or atleast in my case, to make it better, as it was a passing phase. However, it can be quite eye-opening as you begin to question what is reality anyway.

Sometimes if I think to deeply, I get lapses where I suddenly feel that everything around is unreal or unfamiler. But hey, thats just me

(and no, I'm not a drug addict :p )

Go to your friend's house while they are not home , and take any firearms they may have.

Damm. I know how he feels.

Wow. I feel exactly like him only a little different. I have this feeling that people are always staring at me when I'm not home, and when I am, I feel as though I'm still being watched (a la The Truman Show). I don't know what to do about this terrible paranoia.
