Well since the movie The DaVinci code was released.
There is all of a sudden a big hype about Leonardo DaVinci.
I always used to read books about him and his theories, art and inventions.
But since The DaVinci code was released, everybody (here in my town) is suddenly very interested about Leonardo DaVinci. Now everybody thinks they're smart scientists and it actually spoils the ''legend of Leonardo DaVinci''.
It isn't fun and interesting anymore to read about him or his works.
I know this sounds very stupid, But it's getting annoying.
But then again. I'm planning to see the movie to, Pretty interesting movie.
Don't got much more to say. What do you think of it? What are your expectations about that movie?

Why wouldn't the boost in publicity be seen as a positive thing?

You can't be keeping Da Vinci all to yourself.

People will profess themselves as experts simply after reading the book probably, but let them be.

Im excited myself for the release of the movie. I read the book in less than 48 hours.

What ticks me off about the Davinci Code is that even though
the author says it's FICTION and that he made it up ... people
are believing it almost like it's a religion to them.

Hello? It's FICTION.
People can be funny sometimes.

Same thing is happening over here in Australia, plenty of letters to the newspapers, how the Da Vinci Code is spreading lies and blah blah blah.

I sent a letter off last night, I doubt if they'll publish it though.:shk:

Well you are right. You can't keep it for yourself. But you'll get me if you lived here. It's getting a religion
. Did you never had that? When you like something that nobody knows about. And then suddenly that ''thing'' you like suddenly gets very populair and ''cool''... It pretty much spoils the fun.

So what when exorcist came out same thing, and how much truth was involved in the making of that movie, remember book and movie makers motto, never let the truth get in the way of a good story:

My dad LOVED the book because he HATES organized religion
and especially the Catholics and the Baptists. I'm sure he
wishes it was true, but even he knows that it was just a
fantasy made up to make a bunch of money.

I hated the book. I have no idea who is still buying the hardcover when the paperback is now available and, with all those hardcover sales, who the hell is buying the paperback?

the book was predictable and poorly written. the first 3 to 5 chapters make too many references to his earlier book. it was almost like the first part of the book was a commercial for his first book featuring the same lead character.

Brown says it is all fiction and all from his head but the similarities to the holy grail holy whatever book are a bit too much to swallow.

I wonder where his next book will be lifted from.

Yes. The book was indeed good. But i didn't like it all though. There were just some thingw wich keep me thinking.
Well, I agree with your dad. I hate organized religion to. Even better, I hate all the religions (But HATE is a little overreacted, I just don't like religions).
It just lets the people believe in something that doesn't exist. It surpresses freedom. And doesn't let you think clearly.

yes. I wish it was true to.
Hehe, your dad is cool ^^

Well the book wasn't so bad. It had some bad sides yes. But some things were good to. But i agree. it isn't the best book. Well. Only the pretty dumb people buy the paperback if you're asking me.

Well. Predictable it was indeed. But poor written is a little bit to much.
And actually, the book itself is a commercial. I hear that they released the book just to promote the upcoming movie ''The DaVinci'' code.

Not everything that is written in the book is fiction. Some things are said to be true.
But i don't think i buy that though. IF we even knew the truth about this, it's not gonna make our lives better..
*sigh*

the book was written before the movie deal so no, it isn't a commercial for the movie. the book is not a piece of literary genius. story? good enough to keep you reading. what I noticed with the book was that there was no let down in the chapters. normally, you come to an end in the chapter and there's enough of a break that you can put the book down. the little breaks in this book were more often in the middle of chapters, making it harder to find a place to stop. I would never have read the book but I was on my last day of vacation and without another book for the plane ride home so I hit the hotel library and found a paperback (2 years ago - not sure where it came from) and noticed the pages were folded in strange places. middle of chapters, rather than at the start of a new chapter.

must be a method of appearing to be a real nailbiter.

A Catholic church in my area is asking it's "flock" to boycott the movie because it's spreading "lies".
Even they're taking it too seriously.

I personally haven't read the book and have no interest in the subject, simply because it's fiction. The gospel of Judas holds more interest for me.

Well as most of us said before, it isn't a great book indeed.
But further more, i don't have alot to say, Although i didn't notice those ''breaks'' In the middle of those chapters. Ah well

Well i agree with that to be honest. Everybody is talking it TO seriously. It's getting a big hype here. But they all forgot what it really was.

Well don't waste your time reading the book. Although it does have some ''interesting'' things in it. It's not such a great book.
And to be honest, I'm not so interested in the Gospel of Judas neitheer. I don't like the whole religion ''thing''
