Bush and Cheney unwisely believe that an attack on Iran will be a straightforward affair that will surgically remove weapons sites, radar installations, communications facilities, armories, missile silos, and parts of the civilian infrastructure.

In other words, another "cakewalk".

Wrong.

Iran will mobilize according to traditional military doctrine by attempting to "destroy the enemy’s ability to wage war"; severing America’s oil life-line wherever it may be.

Well it looks like Americans will have to suffer severe economic consequences for the next war. People won't be able to buy gas, and they'll lose their jobs. Hell who knows how much a cup of coffeee will cost. People will look to the government with the soup kitchens. There will probably be serious breakdowns in law and order. Who knows what this will do to democracy. That's of course if this is true. But I guess it would make the UN supreme and maybe that's the plan.

The US gets very little(if any)of its supply of oil from Iran. We only get a quarter of our supply from the mid-east as a whole. And you can pretty much bet that the USN is prepared to clear the Strait of Hormuz within the first hours of the opening of hostilities. The worst thing that would happen would be a huge spike in the price of oil which would send inflationary fears throughout the world's economy and would undoubtedly send the global economy into a death spiral.
