I see the SkepticOverlord has explained that bandwidth is not our problem. We are only using a touch over 25% of what we have available. It's the
"building of these beautiful pages" we see with all their custom colors, images and data from a multitude of different data bases in super quick
time that trashes the servers.
The new Optiron Dual/Dual Processors should take us to double our current traffic. The kick about ATS is it seems every time we upgrade we get that
increase in traffic simply because we can handle it.
That tells me there are many people "waiting" for service right now that when you figure in the time lag of a couple seconds per threadview and
multiply that by a half a million page views a day that's nearly
6 days of traffic per month that is getting pushed off into the future.
In other words each delay in serving the data adds to the next which ultimately pushes the fulfillment out into the future a couple seconds at a time.
When that is compiled over current traffic levels we have almost 6 days or 3 million page views worth of traffic waiting for us when we open the pipe
up.
This explains, very simplistically, why we get such a surge everytime we upgrade.
