Just wondered what the general consensus is; personally I think Halo was better in every respect, bar the graphics and the lack of Live compatability. The story is a million times better (Halo 2's story was like :bnghd: ), and multiplayer system-link games we used to have fairly often were the most awesome gaming experiences ever. We only ever player Halo 2 system link once, and found it abysmal and never played it again.
So go and give the two games a quick session, and report back here which one's truly superior

I'm gonna say Halo, now don't get me wrong, Halo 2 was amazing, the story wasn't good, but wasn't bad either. It was Live that me off.

I played Halo 2 Live from the day it came out, until he 360 came out because it basically killed every other game out. People wouldn't play any other FPS on Live.

I still play Halo ocasionally with some friends though. I love it!

Halo was better but that's not saying much. I still can't comprehend why those games were so popular. Microsoft must have good marketing people.

Halo 2 hand down, far better graphics and maps. I do like the fact that they incorpate some of the Halo 1 multiplayer maps into Halo 2 but I do wish they would have added the few the left out.

I have yet to try out halo 2, but Im would reaaaally like too. It looks awesome, and I would like a followup on the story in halo 1.

What is it like compared to h1? (No spoilers plz)

Well, I've played both games, and I'm currently going through Halo 1 with a friend on legendary, and it's absolutely great fun. Sure, there are some things in Halo 2 that were good, but it sort of wore me out. The story was crud, the maps were good in Halo 2, but the constant cheaters on it, sort of depressed me.

The only thing I didn't like about Halo 2 was the ending. It was so sudden and it left me wanting more.

Those damn brutes still scare the crap out of me. I hate it when they just charge at you.

Both Halo 1 and 2 have their good and bad parts so I can't say which is best. The best parts in both games is when the grunts say something really funny. Those little guys kick arse.

Try playing Halo 2 with a huge screen TV (LCD), with surround sound turned up all the way late at night, freaky.

The only thing I really dislike is the Flood - they're more annoying than not. They explode and just... KEEP... COMING.

Halo 2's much better... a more level game if you ask me. I agree the campaign was kinda disappointing, but try it on Heroic and see if you can get past the first level!!

The idea of holding two weapons compaired to one gives you endless quick killing combinations. If you dislike the game so much, maybe you just suck at it and should try and figure it out.... for example:

-Dual needlers: you'll probably die if close range, but you know they're going down with you.
-Plasma rifle + SMG: fire off the plasma pistol to take down shields, then SMG to take out health...
-Plasma pistol + SMG: charge the pistol and you'll take out their shields, then SMG the rest...
-Plasma pistol w/ battle rifle back up: take out shields with pistol, head shot with battle rifle...this is a 2 shot kill from a distance!!

And I could go on and on...
There are some other cool things they have programmed in... such as:
You might think the sword is impossible to dodge...not so. Jump or strafe and your attacker will miss the one hit kill. If you have a shotgun, you can kill the swordsman in mid stride...

I also liked the leveling system for Live play...always kept you in a good fight.

Those of you who are like me and can't pay for live... check out XLink Kia and play online for free! Works with all the consoles and PCs!

Yeh, me and my brother tried it on legendary, it was insanely difficult!

Dual wielding is a really good feature- I don't dislike all of Halo 2, graphics, vehicles, vehicle control, dual wielding, the sword are all positive advances

I didn't suck at it, I just didn't enjoy it. I was awesome at the original Halo and my skills crossed over to the sequel

I'm not saying Halo 2 is a bad game, it just doesn't compare to the original. Ever play system-link Halo with a big bunch of friends? If you had I'm sure you would view Halo 2 as I do.

Single player is a big step down - very repetitive, confusing, with a poor story line and rubbish ending. Most people will agree with this, the original's missions were far better designed.
Multi-player is quite different, more fast paced, rapid shooting, very different feel to the original. In my opinion its alot worse, but the majority of people (including my brother who used to be constantly on Live playing it) seem to love it. None of the people I know who used to play Halo regularly system-link like Halo 2 at all.

Oh God, yeah. It's damn scary when you hear Elite's behind you (when in surround sound) but you can't see them (when you turn around, obviously). :bnghd:

I don't know about having the volume all the way up... the lights in the room shake violently with it about two thirds of the way up.

Yeah I get what you're saying, and I only meant that when I sucked I hated online Halo 2....so I got better and now it's a lot more fun, gets the adrenaline flowing.

Yeah, I system link with both of them and I still like Halo 2.... except for boxing. Boxing in Halo was awesome... plasma pistols only and you're only allowed to melee (no grenades).
