why couldnt they just stick with nintendo revolution and leave it at that? sometimes all people look at is the name to decide to buy an item or not if you know what i mean, in this case, revolition is not on my to buy list.

This is a bit of a shock. The Revolution seemed like a fine name, and well, Wii doesn't, clearly. It's fine for the East, where it doesn't have the same connotations, but surely they realize it's probably going to have a negative impact on it's sales in the "West"?

Who knows, perhaps this is their way of saying "Screw you guys, we make what we want, name it what we want and we don't care who buys it".

When I saw the article on CNN, I had one thought on my mind: "Sony and Microsoft have finally driven Nintendo insane."

I'm sure whereever Mario is right now, he's shaking his head in shame, and Luigi is probably wanting to go on a rampage...

This is just embarassing.....I mean, after all the great games and consoles, they stoop to this low? Revolution would have been just fine...but no....

I say it’s pure marketing genius! What are we doing right now? We’re talking about their product….A product that isn’t even on the shelves yet….Case closed

Nintendo-bashers will jump on their typical bandwagon and ride this one to the grave….Let them be, I say….They are the ones who lose out by having an immediate bias on all Nintendo products b/c of their short attention spans, bland tastes and obsession over graphics…

Anything and everything new that comes out is always heavily criticized straight away, from both the left and right…

Enron, unfortunately I love Nintendo and I still hate this name. I know plenty of Nintendo fanboys who absolutely detest Sony and Xbox, yet still feel the same way.

In case anyone was wondering, the "ii" represents the system's unique 'dual remote' controllers. They also wanted a single word for the system that could be used universally.

The only good thing about the name is that it will be called a "Wiimote" instead of a "remote".

I used to be a hardcore Nintendo fan back in the day.. NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy.. but the games went downhill.

I havnt been a console gamer for years, but I still pay attention to whats out there, and well, when I walk past the games for Nintendo they all just screams kids kids kids.

The name Wii surely will not boost Nintendo past the giants. Im sure it will be massive in Japan and such.
