Have you ever called out sick to work even though you weren't actually sick?

What did you do? Where did you go?

and the most important thing is DID YOU FEEL GUILTY about doing it?

Even if I called in because I was actually sick I felt guilty about doing it couldn't imagine if I wasn't sick. I know I'm a sap.

...I've 'pulled a sicky' a few times...but not something I tend to do often, as work is important. Though sometimes you can't be fagged applying for a days leave of losing a day of Annual Leave to just bugger off and go do something. Beside, I very rarely get sick enough to warrant not showing up to work...I use maybe 1 or 2 sick days a year (from the 14 days allowance per year)...if that.

Last time I threw a sickie I just bugger about town, went to a movie, did some shopping, had a few brews on the beach etc.

Best time I threw a sickie I went to the World Sevens Rugby, got completely rat-azzed with a few mates and whooped and hollared all day embarrasing ourselves...problem was the camera zoomed on me and my mates during a 'crowd shot'...and my boss was in the stadium watching the game too. We were on the big screen waving and acting the fool. So when I handed in my paysheet the following week, with a sick day being claimed on the day of the Sevens...well...busted...something ya only read about, but it DOES happen

In an early job I was under instruction from my supervisor that it was important that I take my five sick days per year, as the sick leave was not accruable.

I involuntarily laughed at that.

I have never had a day off sick (or malingering), except one day in hospital for minor surgery.

This topic must be for slackers. I'm all for slacking off, some weekends, and on extended vacations...

Doing this has never bothered me. Though at my previous job, I got 5 days off a year and no sick days.

Even if I did have a job where I had sick days and called in sick without being sick, I wouldn't care. Maybe if I liked work, I would, but I hate working. Theres a whole lot about life that I would prefer I didn't have to do. Work is one of the major issues.

They call them "sick/personal days" and are not accruable, at my employ.

At least they dont put me in a position to have to lie, if I need a day for myself.

Use them, or get a check if they accumulate to 6 days.

Wait a second I forgot what the topic was about...

Oh yeah, sick days eh? Yeah I pulled a few of thems. And no I didn't feel guilty because all the people there are jerks and I could care less about their well being.

Okay, now seriously, if someone got hurt because of my "sick day" then of course I'd feel guilty.

"This topic must be for slackers."

Somebody is listening to the General.

If salaried or sick days paid for, I take all I can. I can't recall any guilt. If I'm sick I go to work.

You can always tell a phony. Sometimes they have their spouses call. Sometimes they sound like they are dying. People are their death bed don't sound so weak.

Yea I was guilty on doing this. Since I'm in the military, I have to get Doctor's approval to be on quarters (sick call). Once I complained I had diarrhea anmd I felt really bad and couldn't work. It worked and I stayed off of work, I went around the mall and stuff. This was in my youth of the military and I don't do it any more though.

I work for an airline. The sick policy sucks. You are allowed 3 occurances (times when your out sick)
If you get more than 3 occurences you get written up or fired.
I used to call off when I was new, years and years ago but I have learned to be a bit more responsible
and not call off.
In fact I have perfect attendence this year.

I called in sick one time because I had a headache and I took four excederines at once and drank a mountain dew. I was so out of it there was no way I could have driven into work.

Wow iIguess I'm fortunate that I don't have a set number of "sick days" a year or what not. The military just gives you days whenever you are sick.
