A large explosion near the Afghan NATO HQ

A large explosion near the HQ of NATO's peacekeeping mission rocks the Afghan capital, a NATO spokesman said.

Aren't explosions over there like a dime a dozen?
And the Muslims wonder why we depict Mohammed with a "bomb" turban.

You know how in the States we say stuff like:
Virginia is for lovers!
Maryland is for crabs.

Just throw any Arab country in there:
Afghanistan is for bombs.

Anyway, the point is, narrow perceptions based on mass media aren't particularly useful.


Is there any information as to what group did this? Is this part of the Taliban Resurgence? Or is it strictly internationalist-terrorist groups? Perhaps non religious fundamentalists opposed to the occupation and central government?


What are the rammificiations of this, are there legalistic treaty requirements under NATO that would dictate more involvement from member-states?

So far, no injuries reported thank God but blast was large enough to shatter windows according to latest CNN update. Nice jump on the story though leejones

I am sure they are happening all the time but I am also certain it is no less disturbing for those in the area when they do happen particularly near a NATO establishment no less.

Haven't we been talking of cracking down on folks like this? Its getting rather annoying. If you have nothing to add to the grown-up's debate (aside from the occasional mod callout ) then please post something in BTS about placentas or video games.

Great, near the NATO site because the US Embassy is next door and may have been targeted for the large rocket that caused the explosion. I guess it is amazing that only one policeman was injured. They are still trying to determine who launched the rocket and whether the embassy really was the target.
