Bah, PSI...

Based on the figures given on the site it should have been 0.85-0.9 kg/cm². As a reference, the Panzer V had 0.87 kg/m², the M1 Abrams has about 0.9 kg/cm².

The turret was a cruiser ship gun turret with two 28cm cannons. To that there would have been up to eight 20mm FLAKs. Propulsion was by eight (!) speedboat engines, giving it 16.000 PS.

Not really.

There is a reason why you don’t see tanks like that today. And it’s because they aren’t “nice” at all.

Can’t actually use them is most places you fight. No cities or fields of loose dirt/mud/sand, which is basically everywhere. Probably uses more fuel than it can carry in any practical way keeping its range very low. I can’t imagine the maintenance required, how many hours of maintenance per hour of use? It must be staggering.

How would a tank like that be deployed or moved to lands far away? Only a ship could carry that. I don’t even think a single rail car can handle it, so any non modified train can’t transport it.

And when all is said and done, even that 1000 ton tank couldn’t stop a modern day RPG. That thing would be a 2,000,000+ pound paper weight the moment an RPG mangled one of its treads…

So, in conclusion, it is very neat tank. High “coolness” factor for certain. But in any practical way, it’s not “nice” at all

You don't know the word "irony", do you ?
Just to clarify I've never seen a "nice" tank.
I just wanted to show how crazy people like Berthold Konrad Hermann Albert Speer (what a name) are. All of his projects were behind all rationality so is the P1000 no outstanding product.

the P1000 and the P1500 (1500 tons with an 800mm gun (aka. "Dora") were absolutly useless in combination with the Blitzkrieg tactic thats the reason why the project has been discontinued. And this "thing is classified as an "Land-battleship".

I wrote my post PRIOR to a real, non-stolen, image was provided.

I assumed it was a smaller tank just made impossibly heavy via ultra thick armor.
