There is a reason why you don’t see tanks like that today. And it’s because they aren’t “nice” at all.
Can’t actually use them is most places you fight. No cities or fields of loose dirt/mud/sand, which is basically everywhere. Probably uses more
fuel than it can carry in any practical way keeping its range very low. I can’t imagine the maintenance required, how many hours of maintenance per
hour of use? It must be staggering.
How would a tank like that be deployed or moved to lands far away? Only a ship could carry that. I don’t even think a single rail car can handle
it, so any non modified train can’t transport it.
And when all is said and done, even that 1000 ton tank couldn’t stop a modern day RPG. That thing would be a 2,000,000+ pound paper weight the
moment an RPG mangled one of its treads…
So, in conclusion, it
is very
neat tank. High “coolness” factor for certain. But in any practical way, it’s not “nice” at
all
