Andrew Johnson. He was the vice. And of course Civil War wasn't about slaves. Sure, it was one reason south was trying to break away, but not all
of it. The government was trying to pass certain tariffs that would hurt the cotton business a little. Also, the north was doing things that was
hurting the plantation way of the south and so forth and so forth.
And the Confederacy wasn't a new country. It was trying to break awa to form their way of governing. It was as if when the U.S. broke away from the
British, that we lost instead of winning. We tried to make a new country, and succeded. The south didn't. Also, lincoln was trying to keep the
Union together. Sure, freeing slaves while taking the south helped since the plantations no longer had workers and the slaves would then join the
army for the Union. But the slaves weren't why the war started.
If any questions needed on the Civil War, post here, or u2u me, I know many things on it. Hell, last three essays I've written for English was on
it. That was just this year. A few last year, then in highschool got my scholorship from the Civil War roundtable of Toledo for writing them a ten
page report on the Battle of Gettysburg for them. Also been to Gettysburg and surronding area. Very interesting everything they have. Little Round
Top, Big Round Top, Semetary Ridge, Devils Den, Picketts Charge, Antitem(sp?), many places. If anyone ever wants to see re-enactment at its best, go
to Gettysburg when they celebrate the Battle of Gettysburg.(July1-5)
