Why would we ( the government) want him out? Was he not going along with something they needed at the time?

He was going to dismantle the CIA for starters. Also Lyndon Johnson who became President reversed Kennedy's policies on Vietnam and started the Vietnam War.

Thank you for your response. So then it seems to me then that the government behind the scenes wanted something a certain way, and when they saw that Kennedy was not going to be the puppet they needed they took him out. Knowing that the Vice President would do want they wanted. Ok, makes a lot more sense now.

Roberts was just clearing the line of sight. Also, Roberts lied during testimony. Get a clue!
