A hacker I know threatend to hack my computer if I do not do something for them within in 24 hours. He already knows my e-mail (which my father and I share,my dad has important information in the inbox). Also on my computer is work information owned by WVIA (PBS) and the hacker can acsess them and get into the WVIA computers. I need to contact the FBI,but I don't have their phone number, and I can't find a hacking related page for them.

Check the blue pages of your phone book, there should be a local office for your area, with phone number.

If nothing else, if you believe this to be a credible threat, just take the system offline until you get in contact with the FBI.

Ok thanks, I don't know if its credible but I don't wantto take any chances. My dad lost his job and his job offerings and information on that is on the computer. To be safe I'll print them out.

Local PD and Sheriff departments are also taking these cases on more and more - after all this might be too small for the FBI.

And you said you know this person? Do you know how to contact them (ie, phone #, address). A call from a local PD detective might be all this 'hacker' needs for him to stop.

Well it certainly doesn't belong in "Aliens" or the "NWO" does it?

So far its just threats, and he has read my mail. I know that. I'm told that he has a password exploiter, and harddrive bombs. So tommorrow I'll call the local PD, its a realtivly small thing for the FBI. I know where this punk lives and his number, and all the imporant info about him.

ADVISOR where would I put this? It fits no where but chit chat.

get another Hard Drive, plug it into your system, then either copy all the files across or set it up with a clean install.

Disconect the old HD and leave it in the system plugging it in when you need it.

Or buy a CD writer (cheap) and burn your info on a CD then delete it from your HD

If you know where he lives, why not go visit him with a baseball bat?

JediMaster- I sent you a u2u, but I want to say this here too. If someone is hacking you and you know who they are and/or have a means of contacting them, you might want to tell them that hacking is a criminal offense and if they get charged they could easilly end up like this: www.hrw.org...

Now I'm sure there are many opinons on prision rape (which happens if you go to jail) and this isn't the thread for me to bring that up, but warning the guy like that might put him off.

Ok thanks for all the help with this. I am going to see him tommorrow and settle it with him. I don't like hackers and I don't like what he did. Now it deepens. My email password was traffected (sp?) in other words passed around. I changed it since then but now I need to find who the hell got the password.

He probaly installed a Keylogger. They take everything you type and email it to him.

Dreamland thats what he talked about to me. He did'nt say keylogger but he said that he has something that changes the password and emails it to him.

How illegal are they?

The Keyloggers arent illegal. The password scramble may be illegal. but not majorly.
