MOD Cover UP BAE Saudi Bribes

Corruption in the MOD exposed here by the Guardian, this slush fund was designed to offer Saudi officials, prostitutes, hotel rooms, nights out, cars, and anything else they wanted. The idea was to bribe the Saudi officials, so they would buy British weapons. What a fantastic way of doing business, shame that it is completely undemocratic and illegal, I hope some heads roll over this. One BAE official was living in a house bought with money from the slush fund and the Guardian traced a boat bought with the slush fund to a BAE official's residence.

The personal role of Sir Kevin Tebbit, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Defence, in an alleged cover-up of major fraud and corruption is exposed in letters seen by the Guardian.

Sir Kevin, the MoD's top official, failed to follow up for two years allegations that the arms firm BAE Systems ran a slush fund designed to bribe Saudi officials.

"I have no wish to set damaging hares running," Sir Kevin wrote in a "personal and confidential" letter to the head of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), who had brought the allegations against BAE to his attention. They raised "sensitive issues", he said."

This is the sort of incident that makes you question whether or not you can trust any governments at all...
