Must be Bush's fault, huh?
Maybe www.capitolhillblue.com/blog forgot:

Using many of the questionable surveillance and monitoring techniques that brought both questions and criticism to his administration, President George W. Bush has launched a war against reporters who write stories unfavorable to his actions and is planning to prosecute journalists to make examples of them in his "war on terrorism."

You know, cause and effect or simply, you reap what you sow?

Somebody is going to reap what they sow pretty soon, that's for sure. I don't think its going to end up being the liberal media, either.

I couldn't imagine that Bush is the only party responsible Seeker, but he does take responsibility for the actions of the executive branch if some agency did indeed take down the website.

Yes, seekerof, we see the blog in bold. It is a blog written by the publisher of Capitol Hill Blue about the government's efforts at intimidation of his publications.

My guess is the website may have been taken down since the publisher decided to report the government's efforts of intimidation or perhaps the website will come back online soon enough.

I'm surprised that you are in favor of government censorship Seeker...well, not really.

I love a good prediction of prophecy every once in awhile, don't you?

I am not in favor of it, but from time to time, I find it to be a useful tool.

I'm all for tapping terrorism suspects. If someone here in the U.S. is calling or emailing a terrorist sanctuary in the middle east, then such activity SHOULD be monitored.

As far as such powers being taken too far....I kinda doubt it. Especially since we have trouble convicting criminals who ADMIT to thier crimes.

This is just disturbing.

Put this together with possible government complicity in 9/11 and it's more disturbing!

It's hard to believe I was a Bushbot a few years ago. What was I thinking!?

At least I didn't vote for Herr Bush in 2004! (Or in 2000 for that matter.)

You notice we don't hear the phrase "stay the course" anymore?

I guess they must already have US in the position they were working towards.

We have been getting it DOG-fashion for YEARS, so you shouldn't mind if they want to wrap some sandpaper wrapped around their SHAFT.

Hmmm...perhaps "Stay the course" wasn't a good slogan to begin with.

I think a better one would be "Git-R-Done!"

you think all this is controversal? you aint seen nothing yet. wait some years when my generation is in its prime...were totally screwed, media gave us a mind frame not to care about anything....it gets depressing some times. none of my youth wants to even hear about this. they really dont care if they live or die.

so you think this is bad, well get ready cause its going to get worse. the youth has determind it.

CIA Director Porter Goss told Congress recently that "it is my aim and it is my hope that we will witness a grand jury investigation with reporters present being asked to reveal who is leaking this information. I believe the safety of this nation and the people of this country deserve nothing less."

Its funny how they will say these things for something thats convenient for them, but in a case like 9-11, and other suspicious events its "We deserve a lot Less"

Prediction of prophecy? Is that like Ponderous Pachyderm, or something?

That others may live, huh? Which others would that be, the ones signing your paycheck?

When you quit salivating, try a reality check. If you don't change course soon, you will go down with the ship. Like a perforated prognosticator.

Peace, out, PJ.

The legal foundation for dictatorship, behind a "democratic" facade, has been constructed patiently and effectively.

Already the theory of the "unitary executive" has been used to qualify Bush's "signing statements", which usurp Congress and that "of the people" thingy.

Why there are no real uprisings or meaningful revolts in the US is a great mystery.

OK, I wondered if this might happen... I understood it to be an express violation of the Patriot Act for a recipient of a National Security Letter to disclose receipt of such a letter. Clearly, Capitol Hill Blue did that by publishing the fact they received one in the article.

The FBI's Secret Scrutiny: In Hunt for Terrorists, Bureau Examines Records of Ordinary Americans

...The House and Senate have voted to make noncompliance with a national security letter a criminal offense. The House would also impose a prison term for breach of secrecy...

I wonder if this is the reason the site is down...

loam, it is late for me, but i think it be extremely important to follow up with this. perhaps we do an investigation. try contacting the owner to see if we can get some info, and post the whole ordeal up in an ATSNN. maybe if its what we believe even get members to send it to every news station they can.

Grim, I posted a link to the same story up above just incase
the one at capitol hill was still down.

After reading the story I have only to say that I better get my but in gear
and start a site up.

More people busted for freedom of the press is more voices (my opinion don't try it at home), but only reason i can't do it is because once I start writting about it I loose thought of what to write cause of anger.

[edit] I'd actualy like to start it up soon since i've got 100 mgs of space to use [/edit]

Icarus Rising, one thing I have learned in the years that I have been participating in online discussions: Once you start using member insinuations (such as member tags, names, etc.) in any attempt to further your position or argument, instead of addressing the message of the one you are attacking, debating, or discussing with, any type argument you had or have becomes null-in-void/mute.
