Its nothing special, any one with a bit of HTML knowledge can pick the IP address out.
Anyone with a good stats package on their site can harvest all the IP's of their visitors, Heck they can go to the lofgs and get them manaually as well.
The point is with that trick is that you see only YOUR IP address, no one else does.
