I posted this in my blog but not sure if many read it, so I'll ask here. There is something trapped in my wall in my room. I think it may have gotten in through the attic and maybe fallen into the wall? Anyway, it sounds bigger then a rat as it has bumped and scratched on the wall now for about 2 hours as though it's desperately trying to get out. It will go silent until I start moving about in the house, so it obviously can think logically LOL!

Anyone know what it might be and how I can help it out of there? I'm afraid it might die in there by tomorrow YUK!!

Hey mags, where are you, if you're around here I'll dirve over and beat it up!
I have a ton of energy right now and nothing to do...

Squrrel sounds good, more like a possum though, or a racoon.
Don't go up there with anything less than a .357!

Be careful,

Anyone live near PA???

I had 2 squirrels "trapped" in my wall for like 4 months...
Nothing I did (blast insanely loud music in the room for hours on end) drove them out. They just chilled in my wall till winter was over. And it about drove me insane. If it is a squirrel I doubt it would be trapped.. it could probably get out anytime it wants, just doesn't want to. And yes, squirrels scratch all the time, not because they need to, but because they know you can't do a god damned thing about it!!! And winter fatty squirrels sound pretty big when in your walls.. and its about the time for squirrels to start fattening up.

Yeah...probably a small animal fallen down between the linings of the walls. Small animals that make their way into roofs/ceilings can fall between the gaps of walls.

Maybe call someone like SPCA like was suggested...somehow I don't think a moth can moves walls around like you have been describing...unless its the MOTHMAN...

Don't go trying to scare me Alien..I'll go sleep in my car if I get too scared
I swear it sounds like it's reading/flipping through a newspaper
And why ya think it's quiet until it hears me moving around? Should I go into the attic??

I bet it is squirrels..probably # 7 or # 1

if it sounds like it's going through paper, it is probably making a nest.

...maybe its reading the cartoons or doing the crosswords??

...it might be looking at the 'To Let' section, maybe looking for a nice sunny apartment property facing north, with ample wall space offering good freedom of scratching??

eWom,

yu are obviously the resident expert here.

so is this a lost cause except for putting a hole through the wall?

Why dont you drill a hole in the wall somewhere out of the way but close to where it is. And then cover it up and leave it alone. The creature will find that hole and leave , the little fella is trapped in there so he will be wanting out. And you can just patch it up when he leaves. If its that little chipmunk you will want to help the little dude, he sounds lost

mark

just thought of something, maybe its a giant ladybug.

Is it in an outer wall or an inner wall?? Also does your attic have a floor? What kind of structure are you in? If it is a squirrel it can bloody well climb out of the wall by itself.

I'm coming to that conclusion as well..I will conatct my landlord tomorrow and see if they can assist me in getting it out. I just really would hate for it to die in there, plus I'm sure it wouldn't smell too pleasing if it did..but like someone said, maybe it wants to be in there out of the cold..in that case, I don't much balme it..

Pretty much, there is no way you'll get them out if they don't want to leave.

Prepare yourself for hell, if it is indeed "nesting" squirrels.. it got to the point where I was standing in my room with an axe, deciding if risking an electrical fire, and giant holes in the wall, was worth the chance that i just might hit and kill the squirrels, while chopping at them with an axe.

That was pretty extreme for me, one of the few, hmm correction, the only time in my life, I wish I could kill an animal.

Next to the bathroom(where the attic entry is) and next to the closet, maybe L shaped? It's making a vocal sound as well??

I'm liking EWoms suggestion...

...get your hands on a 12-gauge...interior decorating time...surely you don't need all those walls, and besides, you can experience the joys of up-market 'open plan' living...
